Deep neural network (DNN) based speech enhancement techniques have shown superior performance compared to the traditional speech enhancement approaches in handling nonstationary noise. However, their performance is often compromised as a result of mismatch between their testing and training conditions. In this work, a codebook integrated deep neural network (CI-DNN) approach is introduced for speech enhancement, which mitigates this mismatch by employing existing speaker adapted codebooks with a DNN.

Objective: To determine the effect of bye weeks (no practices or games) on the injury event rate in the Canadian Football League (CFL).
Design: Historical (retrospective) cohort study.
Setting: CFL.
Context: Authors of few studies have used randomized controlled trials (RCTs) to quantify clinical intervention safety of rehabilitation after sport-related concussion across sport levels.
Objective: Describe symptom exacerbation and adverse events (AEs) associated with two concussion rehabilitation interventions.
Design: Cluster RCT (NCT02988596).
Pelvic fractures are the most common among patients sustaining high-energy trauma. They are associated with high morbidity and mortality rates, often because of high blood loss and injury to the lumbosacral plexus, genitourinary system, and gastrointestinal system. The age, complexity of the pelvic fracture, and pubic symphysis diastasis would represent risk factors for erectile dysfunction after major and neglected pelvic injuries; the neglected pelvic ring injuries could cause disabilities that manifest with symptoms like pain, lower limb length discrepancy, standing or sitting imbalance and even sexual dysfunction.

Background: Orofacial developmental abnormalities that involve the upper lip and face are the most common variety. The midline cleft of the mandible is one of the rarest categorized as Tessier #30, which extends along the midline of the mandible, along with ankyloglossia or aglossia.
Medial humeral epicondyle fractures are seen in about one-fourth of all elbow fractures in the pediatric population. Though it seems to be a common occurrence, there is still controversy existing on the treatment aspects to date. Among these fractures, about one-fourth are seen incarcerated into the elbow joint and this is managed surgically.

As native herbivores in the world's grasslands, steppes, and savannas are progressively being displaced by livestock, it is important to ask whether livestock can emulate the functional roles of their native counterparts. While livestock and native herbivores can have remarkable similarity in their traits, they can differ greatly in their impacts on vegetation composition which can affect soil-C.

Opioid stewardship is one essential function of pain and palliative care pharmacists and a critical need in the United States. In recent years, this country has been plagued by two public health emergencies: an opioid crisis and the COVID-19 pandemic, which has exacerbated the opioid epidemic through its economic and psychosocial toll. To develop an opioid stewardship program, a systematic approach is needed.

Grazing by mammalian herbivores can be a climate mitigation strategy as it influences the size and stability of a large soil carbon (soil-C) pool (more than 500 Pg C in the world's grasslands, steppes, and savannas). With continuing declines in the numbers of large mammalian herbivores, the resultant loss in grazer functions can be consequential for this soil-C pool and ultimately for the global carbon cycle. While herbivore effects on the size of the soil-C pool and the conditions under which they lead to gain or loss in soil-C are becoming increasingly clear, their effect on the equally important aspect of stability of soil-C remains unknown.

We developed and implemented an evidence-based guideline for the use of WSC in the management of adhesive SBO, to be implemented across hospitals affiliated with the University of Toronto.
Methods: We performed a systematic review and created a clinical practice guideline for WSC use in the management of adhesive SBO.
Background And Aims: The comparison of post-mortem evidence to ante-mortem data is the usual approach Forensic Odontologists take in managing human identification cases. Although dental charts and radiographs are widely used as ante-mortem dental evidence, photographs, including non-clinical ones such as selfies are not regarded as such. Therefore, photographs are not regularly assessed in identifying the deceased.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has shown to benefit in the biomedical image such as X-ray/Computed Tomography in diagnosis of ARDS, but there are limited AI-based systematic reviews (aiSR).

Superficial lipomas are mostly asymptomatic whereas deep-seated lipomas can occasionally cause symptoms if they grow adjacent to neurovascular structures. In this report, we present a case of parosteal lipoma of the right proximal forearm in a 47-year-old male, which was initially diagnosed as intramuscular lipoma stretching posterior interosseous nerve (PIN), with no neurological complaints during both preoperative and postoperative periods.

In this paper, a case of open medial type of subtalar dislocation associated with fractured posterior facet of the talus in a 27-year-old man with a history of road traffic accident was reported. Immediate wound irrigation and open reduction under general anesthesia at the emergency room operation theater was successful followed by cast immobilization.

The aim of this study was to improve the mechanical and barrier properties of xylan-alginate films by incorporating CNFs into the xylan-alginate matrix. CNFs was produced from maize stalk waste residues through a combination of chemical and mechanical treatment.
