Mucoralean fungi could cause mucormycosis in humans, particularly in immunodeficient individuals and those with diabetes mellitus or trauma. With plenty of species and genera, their molecular identification and pathogenicity have a large deviation. Reported cases of mucormycosis showed frequent occurrence in Rhizopus species, Mucor species, and Lichtheimia species.
