Objectives: Deauville scores (DS) from PET/CT imaging are increasingly being used to direct response-adjusted treatment strategies in lymphoma, including large B cell lymphomas (LBCL). We aimed to investigate the outcome of allogeneic haematopoietic stem cell transplantation (alloHSCT) in LBCL and the role played by pre-transplant disease status, as determined by DS.
Methods: We performed a retrospective, observational study of adults treated with a T-cell depleted alloHSCT for de novo DLBCL or high-grade transformation.
Purpose: To characterize the effect of embolic particle size on outcomes of uterine artery embolization (UAE) for mixed adenomyosis/fibroids.
Materials And Methods: A single-center retrospective database was compiled of all patients with mixed adenomyosis/fibroids who underwent UAE with particles (Embosphere, Merit, USA; Embozene, Varian, UK) from September 2015 to May 2022 (n=76, mean age: 46.7 ± 5.

Objective: The aim of this study was to compare the safety and efficacy of the leading smoking cessation medications among individuals with current versus past major depressive disorder (MDD).
Methods: This was a secondary analysis of a randomized, double-blind trial over 12 weeks with varenicline or bupropion, followed by a 12-week assessment, in participants ages 18-75 with past (N=2,174) or current (N=451) MDD or without psychiatric disorders (N=4,028). Interventions included 12 weeks of pharmacotherapy with placebo, nicotine replacement therapy (NRT; nicotine patch), bupropion, or varenicline, and brief counseling.

Background: Pseudomonas aeruginosa biofilms limit the efficacy of currently available antibacterial therapies and pose significant clinical challenges. Pseudomonal biofilms are complicated further when other markers of persistence such as mucoid and hypermutable phenotypes are present. There is currently a paucity of data regarding the activity of the newer β-lactam/β-lactamase inhibitor combination ceftolozane/tazobactam against P.

Methods: Patients who had craniectomy and delayed cranioplasty with stored, frozen bone flap between 2012 and 2022 were included in this study.
Background And Aims: Recent studies have shown that combining polygenic risk score (PRS) and carrier status for germline pathogenic variants in colorectal cancer (CRC) susceptibility genes (e.g. ) may increase the success of predicting CRC.

Methods: Clinical data, phenotypical features and aortic outcomes in individuals with pathogenic/likely pathogenic (P/LP) variants enrolled in the Montalcino Aortic Consortium registry were reviewed.
Linear accelerator (LINAC) stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) is a specialised treatment used for various brain conditions, including arteriovenous malformations (AVMs). This paper investigates the obliteration rate of AVMs treated by the LINAC-based facility at Prince of Wales Hospital, defines factors influencing obliteration rate, time to obliteration and complications post-SRS. A retrospective audit review of patient notes sourced from electronic medical records was conducted.

Methods: Clinical information and samples were collected from children aged 7 months to 14 years attending educational institutions in Auckland, New Zealand. Two methods determined scabies status: the International Alliance for the Control of Scabies clinical criteria (IACS) and quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR).
The tricolored bat (), once common in the eastern United States, has experienced significant mortality due to white-nose syndrome (WNS), a fungal disease that primarily affects bats hibernating in caves and mines. In coastal regions of the southeastern United States, where caves and mines are scarce, tricolored bats often use roadway culverts as hibernacula. However, WNS infection dynamics in culverts are poorly understood.

This study evaluated Near Infrared Spectroscopy (NIRS) together with a range of known biomarkers of gut inflammation to identify their relationship with anaemia and RBCT.
Method: A prospective observational study of preterm infants born at <30 weeks gestation was conducted from birth until either 36 weeks post conceptional age or discharge home.
Background: Sickle cell disease, a debilitating, inherited haemolytic anaemia with premature morbidity and mortality, affects millions globally. Mitapivat, a first-in-class, oral, allosteric activator of pyruvate kinase, improves red blood cell survival by increasing ATP and diminishes sickling by decreasing 2,3-diphosphoglycerate. We aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of mitapivat in patients with sickle cell disease.

Methods: Participants (n = 348) included individuals without cognitive impairment.
Over a lifetime, hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) adjust their lineage output to support age-aligned physiology. In model organisms, stereotypic waves of hematopoiesis have been observed corresponding to defined age-biased HSC hallmarks. However, how the properties of hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells change over the human lifespan remains unclear.

These patients suffer from reduced functional capacity and a lower quality of life over the long-term, despite use of anticoagulant therapy. Catheter-directed therapy (CDT) is a promising treatment for acute PE that rapidly removes thrombus and potentially improves cardiac dysfunction.

It is of interest to understand how perturbations, like the introduction of exogenous chemicals, impact microbiomes. In poison frogs (family Dendrobatidae), the skin microbiome is exposed to alkaloids that the frogs sequester for defense.

Results are presented that show how an OV generator can be inscribed into a 20 μm-thick LC layer and how the order of the OV beam can be tuned with the application of a voltage. Importantly, only a single pair of electrodes is needed to tune the order of the vortex as the required phase profile is generated through the 3D structuring of the polymer network using the laser writing process.
