Genetic variants of Nuclear Factor-Kappa B were associated with different outcomes of Hepatitis C virus infection among Egyptian patients.

Background: Hepatitis C virus (HCV) is a major risk factor for chronic hepatitis and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB) is a transcription factor that functions in health and disease. Genetic variants of the NF-κB gene can affect its function and are associated with chronic inflammatory changes and malignant transformation.

Acitretin: Could it be a new therapeutic player in the field of onychomycosis?

Background: Onychomycosis represents a therapeutic challenge. The complete cure rate with itraconazole pulse therapy remains unsatisfactory implying the need for an effective therapeutic regimen. Given the successful treatment of recurrent dermatophytosis with isotretinoin and itraconazole, we investigated the therapeutic use of acitretin in onychomycosis.
