In Vitro Effect of Anodization of Titanium Abutments on Color Parameters and Color Difference of Lithium Disilicate All-Ceramic Crowns.

Objective: This study assessed the effect of the anodization of titanium abutments on the color parameters and color difference of lithium disilicate (LDS) all-ceramic crowns.

Materials And Methods: In this study, 19 straight abutments were divided into two groups: anodized (n = 9) and non-anodized control (n = 9), with one hybrid zirconia abutment as a reference. Anodization was achieved by applying 63 V energy using seven 9 V flat batteries in series, with an electrolyte solution comprising 1 g trisodium phosphate in 250 mL distilled water for 5 s, resulting in a gold-yellow color.

Changes in skin barrier properties were evaluated after 4 weeks of daily topical application using in vivo laser scanning microscopy (LSM) and transepidermal water loss in 26 healthy volunteers.

Mitochondrial diabetes (MD) appears following activation of mutant mitochondrial DNA and is a combination of diabetes and cognitive deficit. In this research, we showed the correlation of diabetic encephalopathy, dysfunctional mitochondria, and changes in the expression of axonal transport proteins (KIF5b, Dynein).

Ibuprofen Protection Against Restrained Chronic Stress-induced Depression in Male Rats.

Introduction: Stress predisposes organisms to depression and cognitive impairments, and seems to interact with metabolic homeostasis. The inflammatory response and the upregulation of proinflammatory cytokines are some of the consequences related to chronic stress. In this study, we investigated the preventive effect of chronic administration of ibuprofen, as an inhibitor of cyclooxygenases, on the cognitive and behavioral alterations and the weight gain reduction induced by simultaneous chronic restraint stress in rats.

LED primary selection algorithms for simulation of CIE standard illuminants.

Although mixture of LEDs is being considered as a simulator of the CIE daylight series, the performance of the simulations is highly dependent on the SPD of the selected LEDs. An algorithm for selection of the best LEDs for simulation of the CIE daylight series is helpful in this regard. To address this problem, using 200 imaginary light primaries and 40 real LEDs, three algorithms based on concepts of equally spacing of wavelength range ("Equal"), Gram Schmidt orthogonalization in LEDs/light primaries spectral subspace ("Gram") and the generalization of Gram Schmidt orthogonalization in the LEDs/light primaries projections onto the illuminants subspace ("Ortho") were proposed and studied.

The present study was conducted to evaluate the protective effects of valproic acid (VPA) as a nonspecific histone deacetylase (HDAC) inhibitor to reverse the effects of stress on induction of anhedonia and explore possible mechanisms.

This study presents a method named sensitivity comparison (SC) for spectral transmission estimation. The method needs neither a priori knowledge from the samples nor statistical information of a given reflectance dataset.

Metric for evaluation of filter efficiency in spectral cameras.

Although metric functions that show the performance of a colorimetric imaging device have been investigated, a metric for performance analysis of a set of filters in wideband filter-based spectral cameras has rarely been studied. Based on a generalization of Vora's Measure of Goodness (MOG) and the spanning theorem, a single function metric that estimates the effectiveness of a filter set is introduced. The improved metric, named MMOG, varies between one, for a perfect, and zero, for the worst possible set of filters.

The aim of this paper is to determine the effects of forces exerted on the cantilever probe tip of an atomic force microscope (AFM). These forces vary according to the separation distance between the probe tip and the surface of the sample being examined. Hence, at a distance away from the surface (farther than d(on)), these forces have an attractive nature and are of Van der Waals type, and when the probe tip is situated in the range of a₀≤ d(ts) ≤ d(on), the capillary force is added to the Van der Waals force.
