AbstractMorning Report is a time-honored tradition where physicians-in-training present cases to their colleagues and clinical experts to collaboratively examine an interesting patient presentation. The Morning Report section seeks to carry on this tradition by presenting a patient's chief concern and story, inviting the reader to develop a differential diagnosis and discover the diagnosis alongside the authors of the case. This report examines the story of a 53-year-old man who had epigastric pain that he described as a sensation of burning behind his sternum.

Article Synopsis
  • - This review summarizes recent findings on how SARS-CoV-2 infection can lead to various thyroid disorders, such as subacute thyroiditis, Graves' disease, and Hashimoto's thyroiditis, both during and after COVID-19.
  • - The review suggests that the thyroid and the hypothalamic-pituitary-thyroid (HPT) axis are important targets for the virus, with many thyroid conditions showing a connection to past COVID-19 infections.
  • - It highlights that thyroid dysfunction linked to COVID-19 is typically reversible, but patients with thyroid issues, particularly those with severe thyrotoxicosis, may face increased risk during COVID-19 due to potential complications and the effects of their treatments.

Introduction: Emergency departments (EDs) at public hospitals in Vietnam typically face problems with overcrowding, as well as being populated by a wide variety of illnesses, resulting in increasing dissatisfaction from patients. To alleviate these problems, we used the increasingly popular value-stream mapping (VSM) and lean strategy approaches to (1) evaluate the current patient flow in EDs; (2) identify and eliminate the non-valued-added components; and (3) modify the existing process in order to improve waiting times.

Methods: Data from a total of 742 patients who presented at the ED of 108 Military Central Hospital in Hanoi, Vietnam, were collected.
