[Occupational morbidity in Ukraine].

The authors analyzed occupational morbidity in Ukraine over 1990-2003, in comparison with european data. Regions with higher and lower occupational morbidity were identified. Analysis covered occupational diseases for certain industries in accordance with exposure to dust, chemicals, noise, vibration, physical strain.

[The morbidity in preschool children living on the territory of Rovno Province subjected to radioactive contamination as a result of the accident at the Chernobyl Atomic Electric Power Station].

The morbidity was studied of 3000 preschool children born and inhabiting the territory of six Rovno Province districts belonging to the "Western trail" of the Chernobyl accident. It was found that the children born in 1986-1987 showed a 1.5-3 times increase of the morbidity as compared with the pre-accident period.

[Problems in improving the public health of a rural area based on a study of statistical data on population health].

The dynamics of health indices of the Khust District (Transcarpathian Province [correction of Zacarpathye region]) population was studied from 1970 through 1990. It is concluded that statistical data on the increase of morbidity are related to improvement of diagnostics of nosological entities related to increase of the availability of doctors, nursing personnel, number of beds in the district. Reserves of further medical services to the population are discussed.

[Pseudotuberculosis in the Krasnodar Territory. The clinico-epidemiological characteristics of its morbidity and the biological properties of its strains].

Group cases of pseudotuberculosis, first registered at health-restoring institutions of the health resort of Gelendzhik (the Krasnodar Territory), are described. The etiology of these cases of the disease was established on the basis of clinico-epidemiological data, specific seroconversion in 66% of the examined patients and the isolation of Yersinia pseudotuberculosis strains from the feces of four patients. There are many works in modern literature, which are devoted to disability problems but, unfortunately, they are fragmentary. Comparatively few works are devoted to the studies of the influence of sociohygienic factors on the level of disability among the population. That is why it is necessary to conduct complex sociohygienic surveys aimed at studying disability trends.

[The sanitary hygiene conditions of the work and morbidity characteristics of workers in the sulfur industry].

Major forms of morbidity with temporary disability were studied in the professional groups of workers engaged in sulphur autoclave production. It was established that the morbidity rates increased depending on the age and length of service factors. There was neurosis-related morbidity with temporary, disability caused by the toxic action of the sulphur compounds on the health state.

[Halophilic Black Sea vibrios and their role in human pathology].

During the period of 4 years 558 halophil vibrio strains (258 V. parahaemolyticus strains and 300 V. angiolyticus strains) were isolated from the water and from the representatives of the hydrobios of the Black Sea.
