The objective of this study was to present a case series of patients with hypokalemic periodic paralysis. We described all patients with diagnosis of hypokalemic periodic paralysis admitted to the Al Ain Hospital (UAE) during the year 2006. Seventeen patients, all males and mostly Asians, were presented to the Al Ain Hospital over a 12-month period.

Background: Evidence shows that there is an increase in concentrations of markers of endothelial dysfunction immediately following acute ischaemic stroke. Several studies suggest that endothelial dysfunction may be partly caused by oxidation related to the effects of raised total plasma homocysteine.

Objective: The aim of this study was to measure changes in total plasma homocysteine and markers of endothelial dysfunction in stroke disease within a known period of time post infarct.

This case report is about a 24-year-old lady, labeled case of ventricular septal defect since birth, who presented with sudden onset of chest pain and palpitation followed by acute pulmonary edema. She was found to have clinical cardiomegaly, biventricular impulse, pansystolic murmur of ventricular septal defect with continuous murmur at the right lower sternal border. Electrocadiogram revealed frequent ventricular premature beat and chest skiagram revealed cardiomegaly with pulmonary venous congestion.
