 We document our data on the course of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) infection in cancer patients in an attempt to help optimize their management in India and globally.  Between February 2020 and January 2021, participating oncologists from Pune (members of the Oncology Group of Pune) documented effect of COVID-19 infection in their cancer patients. Binomial logistic regression analysis as well as correlation analysis was done using Pearson Chi-square test to determine significance of clinical factors.

Background: Extra nodal involvements of non-Hodgkin's lymphomas (NHL) are not so uncommon, but the involvement of oral cavity by NHL is very rare.

Materials And Methods: The present study involved retrospective analysis of patients from year 2001 to 2011, who presented with oral mass and on evaluation were diagnosed to have primary extranodal NHL of oral cavity at a tertiary cancer care centre in South India.

Results: There were seven patients treated for primary NHL of oral cavity at our institute in last 10 years.

Brain tumors are the second most common cancers after hematological malignancies accounting for approximate 21% of all childhood malignancies in children between ages of 0 and 14 y. The present study was undertaken to determine the spectrum of the brain tumors diagnosed in a tertiary cancer center in South India. Most patients with head and neck cancer have dysphagia and are at increased risk of having aspiration and subsequent pneumonia. It can cause prolonged hospitalization, treatment delay and/or interruption and mortality in cancer patients. The treatment of these infections often relies on empirical antibiotics based on local microbiology and antibiotic sensitivity patterns.

We report an unusual case of a 6-year-old male child who presented with fever and a cough of one month's duration. A bone marrow aspiration and cytogenetics were suggestive of acute myeloid leukaemia with t(8;21)(q22;q22). A chest x-ray and computed tomography of the thorax showed a soft tissue lesion in the right lung.

Acute promyelocytic leukaemia (APML) is a biologically and clinically distinct variant of AML, currently classified as acute myeloid leukaemia with recurrent cytogenetic anomalies t(15;17) (q22;q21), promyelocytic leukaemia-retinoic acid receptor alpha, diagnosis regardless of blast count in the World Health Organization classification system. It is one of the curable malignancies, has a unique clinical presentation, often with disseminated intravascular coagulation, and has a targeted therapy for its treatment in the form of all trans retinoic acid (ATRA) and arsenic trioxide (ATO). Here, we report a complex type of variant APML t(3;15) (q26;q13), the need for conventional karyotyping for diagnosing such rare variants, and its response to ATRA and ATO.
