Unlabelled: Betel leaves have deep roots in India's cultural heritage and have long been known for their use in traditional diets as a masticatory agent. These leaves contain beneficial compounds like antimicrobials, antioxidants, and anticancer properties. This study aims to investigate how betel leaf essential oil (BLEO) can act as a preservative for orange, grape, watermelon, and sugarcane juices.

This study investigated antibiotic resistance (ABR) and extended-spectrum ß-lactamases (ESBL) patterns in bacterial isolates collected from the dairy, hotel, meat, and canteen food waste samples. A total of 144 bacterial strains were collected and screened for resistance against 9 standard antibiotics belonging to three generations and ESBL production. The ABR profile of the bacterial isolates was observed against all four major antibiotic groups (aminoglycosides, β-lactams, quinolone, and others), where resistance against cefotaxime (> 70%) and methicillin (> 50%) was high.

Chrysin (Chy) is known for various biological proprieties such as inhibitory effects on inflammation, cancer, oxidative stress, aging, and atherosclerosis. However, the hypolipidemic activity of Chy and its mechanistic action remains unclear in cardiovascular diseases (CVD). In this study, we focused on the hypolipidemic proprieties of Chy in hypercholesterolemia-induced atherosclerosis.

Over the decades, the survival rates for oral cancer have not improved despite development in novel diagnostic and therapeutic strategies. Therefore, the present study is aimed at investigating the chemopreventive potential of parthenolide in DMBA-induced hamster buccal pouch carcinogenesis. The hamsters were divided into 4 groups (n = 6/group).

The aim of the present study was to investigate the chemopreventive effect of coumarin against 7, 12-dimethylbenz[a]anthracene (DMBA)-induced hamster buccal pouch carcinogenesis by monitoring tumor incidence and histopathological changes as well as by analyzing the status of biochemical markers (lipid peroxidation, enzymatic and non-enzymatic antioxidants, phase I and phase II detoxification enzymes). Oral squamous cell carcinomas were induced in the buccal pouch of Syrian golden hamsters by painting with 0.5% DMBA in liquid paraffin three times a week for 14 weeks.

The status of glycoconjugates (protein bound hexose, hexosamine, sialic acid and fucose) in plasma or serum serve as potential biomarkers for assessing tumor progression and therapeutic interventions. Aim of the present study was to investigate the protective effect of two major soy isoflavones, genistein and daidzein, in combination on the status of glycoconjugates in plasma, erythrocyte membrane and mammary tissues during 7,12-dimethylbenz[a]anthracene (DMBA) induced mammary carcinogenesis in female Sprague-Dawley rats. A single subcutaneous injection of DMBA (25 mg rat(-1)) in the mammary gland developed mammary carcinoma in female Sprague-Dawley rats.

The present study has investigated the modulating effect of carnosic acid on the expression pattern of cell proliferative (proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) cyclin D1 and a transcription factor c-fos), apoptotic (p53, Bcl-2, Bax caspase -3 and 9), inflammatory (Nuclear factor kappa B (NFκB) and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX- 2) and angiogenic (vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) markers during 7,12-dimethylbenz[a]anthracene (DMBA)-induced hamster buccal pouch carcinogenesis. Oral tumors were developed in the hamsters buccal pouches by painting with 0.5% DMBA in liquid paraffin three times a week for 14 weeks.

Aim was to investigate the chemopreventive potential of apigenin by analyzing the tumor incidence as well as monitoring lipid peroxidation, antioxidants and phase I and phase II detoxification as biomarkers during DMBA induced hamster buccal pouch carcinogenesis. Oral tumors were developed in the buccal pouches of golden Syrian hamsters using topical application of 0.5% DMBA (DMBA) three times a week for 14weeks.

The present study was aimed to investigate the chemopreventive potential of carnosic acid in 7,12-dimethylbenz(a)anthracene (DMBA)-induced hamster buccal pouch carcinogenesis. The chemopreventive potential was assessed by analyzing the tumor incidence, tumor volume and burden as well as by measuring the status of lipid peroxidation, non-enzymatic and enzymatic antioxidants and phase I and phase II detoxification enzymes. Oral squamous cell carcinoma was developed in the buccal pouch of golden Syrian hamsters by painting with 0.

Aim of the present study was to investigate the chemopreventive potential of ferulic acid on 7,12-dimethylbenz[a]anthracene (DMBA) induced mammary carcinogenesis in Sprague-Dawley rats. The chemopreventive potential of ferulic acid was assessed by monitoring the tumor incidence, as well as analyzing the status of biochemical (enzymatic and non-enzymatic antioxidants and phase II detoxification enzymes) and molecular (p53 and bcl-2) markers during DMBA-induced mammary carcinogenesis. Mammary carcinogenesis was induced in Sprague-Dawley rats by providing a single subcutaneous injection of 25 mg of DMBA in 1 ml emulsion of sunflower oil (0.
