The present study reports, novel and greener method for synthesis of gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) using 5,7-dihydroxy-6-metoxy-3,4methylenedioxyisoflavone (Dalspinin), isolated from the roots of Dalbergia coromandeliana was carried out for the first time. The synthesized gold nanoparticles were characterized by UV-Vis spectroscopy, high resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM), selected area electron diffraction (SAED), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The observed surface plasmon resonance (SPR) at 532nm in the UV-Vis absorption spectrum indicates the formation of gold nanoparticles.

The applicability of C-H functionalization to medicinally important 2-pyridyl-based N-heterocycles suffers from severe challenges owing to the high Lewis basicity of the N-atom. This arrests catalytic activity and yields undesirable positional selectivity due to preferential chelate formation. In this regard, we report a novel palladium(ii)-catalyzed arylation strategy on multiple-N-containing pyridazines by over-riding the functionalization due to a chelated palladacycle.

Summary: Heat shock protein information resource (HSPIR) is a concerted database of six major heat shock proteins (HSPs), namely, Hsp70, Hsp40, Hsp60, Hsp90, Hsp100 and small HSP. The HSPs are essential for the survival of all living organisms, as they protect the conformations of proteins on exposure to various stress conditions. They are a highly conserved group of proteins involved in diverse physiological functions, including de novo folding, disaggregation and protein trafficking.

Collision-induced dissociation (CID) mass spectra of a few haloaniline isomers, (chloroanilines, dichloroanilines, difluoroanilines, chloro-fluoroanilines and bromo-fluoroanilines) were characterized. The mass spectral behaviour of difluoroanilines was different from those of the corresponding regioisomers of the other haloanilines. For all ortho regioisomers except difluoroanilines, CID mass spectra resulted in hydrogen halide as well as halogen radical loss.

Averrhoa bilimbi Linn. fruit and its extracts were screened for antihypercholesterolemic activity using Triton-induced hypercholesterolemia in rats as a model. The fruit and its water extract, but not alcohol and hexane extracts, showed remarkable antihypercholesterolemic activity.

Two isoflavonoids isolated from Dalbergia sympathetica were identified as 5,4'-dihydroxy-7-methoxyisoflavone (1) (Prunetin) and Prunetin-4'-O-beta-D-gentiobioside (2) (Dalsympathetin). The natural occurrence of Dalsympathetin is reported for the first time. The position of glycosylation in Dalsympathetin at 4'-position has been confirmed by 2D-NMR spectral studies.

Petroleum ether and benzene extracts of Clemeo felina, given orally at doses of 300 mg kg(-1) day(-1) for 30 days, were found to be antidiabetic and antihyperlipemic on alloxan diabetic rats. Moreover, a significant decrease in the activities of serum enzymes like alkaline phosphatase, acid phosphatase and HMGCoA reductase activity in the liver was observed. However, treatment of rats with the extracts as well as standard antidiabetic drugs increased liver hexakinase activity and serum LDH activity.

An alcoholic extract of Dalbergia sympathetica, on column chromatography, yielded a compound which analyzed for C(6)H(11)NO(3) (M(+) 145). The IR spectrum of the compound showed the presence of carbonyl and hydroxyl groups. PMR, (13)C and DEPT NMR spectral studies of the compound showed the presence of one N-methyl, two methine and two methylene groups.

A successful attempt of using sodium salt of a water- insoluble larvicide, as an alternative to the use of solutions of such larvicides in acetone and water, for the larvicidal studies is made, in the present study biochanin - A an isoflavone isolated from the flowers of Dalbergia sissoides (grah) when assessed for larvicidal study as its sodium salt on the fourth instar larvae of Culex quinquefasciatus (Sa) showed significant larvicidal activity [LC 50 308.238ppm, LC90 1889.926 ppm].
