Photodynamic Therapy - A Non-invasive Treatment Modality for Precancerous Lesions.

Introduction: Oral premalignant lesions are conditions having high potential tendency for transformation into malignancy. The use of a conservative and effective treatment modality is one of the best strategies for cancer prevention. Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is a non-invasive method for topical and selective treatment of oral precancerous lesions.

Quantitative Immunoexpression of EGFR in Oral Potentially Malignant Disorders: Oral Leukoplakia and Oral Submucous Fibrosis.

Background and aims. Many oral squamous cell carcinomas develop from potentially malignant disorders (PMDs)which include a variety of lesions and conditions characterized by an increased risk for malignant transformation. Thisstudy evaluated the quantitative expression of EGFR in normal oral mucosa, oral leukoplakia and oral submucous fibrosis to predict the malignant risk in compliance with the intensity of staining with EGFR.

Pleomorphic Adenoma of Cheek Masquerading as Fibrolipoma - Case Report with Review.

Salivary gland tumours are rare, comprising 3% of head and neck tumours, of which Pleomorphic Adenoma (PA) constitutes 70-80%. It accounts for 53-74% of parotid tumours, 44-68% submandibular gland tumours and 38-43% of minor salivary gland tumours. It usually presents as painless, firm, slow growing mobile mass.

Expression of E-cadherin in normal oral mucosa, in oral precancerous lesions and in oral carcinomas.

Objective: The aim of the present study was to assess the expression of E-cad in oral precancerous lesions and conditions and oral carcinomas in comparison with normal mucosa.

Materials And Methods: Total of 50 samples were selected for the study and were categorized into five groups and 10 samples in each group as Group I-oral leukoplakia (OL), Group II-oral lichen planus (OLP), Group III-oral submucous fibrosis (OSMF), Group IV-oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) and Group V-normal oral mucosa (NOM) as control group. All the samples were assessed for the expression of E-cad by immunohistochemical study.

Craniofacial fibrous dysplasia--a Morbid presentation.

Fibrous dysplasia is grouped under fibro-osseous lesions with developmental anomaly of bone forming mesenchyme that manifests as a defect in osteoblastic differentiation and maturation. This paper describes a case of 28 yrs old female who presented with swelling on right side of face, nostril and intraoral swelling on right half of hard palate since 1-year. The diagnosis was based on clinico-radiological and histopathological investigations.
