Background Adequate post-operative analgesia in the obstetric patient is necessary to facilitate breastfeeding and the care of the newborn. Considering the limitations of intravenous analgesic options such as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and opioids, other alternatives have been tried for offering better analgesia with fewer potential side effects. Transversus abdominis plane (TAP) block is one such option that has been tried with various local anesthetic drugs, either alone or in combination with other adjuvants.

In resource-limited settings, timely treatment of acute stroke is dependent upon accurate diagnosis that draws on non-contrast computed tomography (NCCT) scans of the head. Artificial Intelligence (AI) based devices may be able to assist non-specialist physicians in NCCT interpretation, thereby enabling faster interventions for acute stroke patients in these settings. We evaluated the impact of an AI device by comparing the time to intervention (TTI) from NCCT imaging to significant intervention before (baseline) and after the deployment of AI, in patients diagnosed with stroke (ischemic or hemorrhagic) through a retrospective interrupted time series analysis at a rural hospital managed by non-specialists in India.

Background: Vertical transmission (VT) of arboviruses (arthropod-borne viruses) can serve as an essential link in the transmission cycle during adverse environmental conditions. The extent of VT among mosquito-borne arboviruses can vary significantly among different virus families and even among different viruses within the same genus. For example, orthobunyaviruses exhibit a higher VT rate than orthoflaviviruses and alphaviruses.

A transient vision loss is not commonly encountered during the postoperative period following a caesarean section. Although numerous causes have been suggested for transient vision loss, when loss of vision is associated with seizures and headaches, the differential diagnoses include hemolysis, elevated liver enzymes, low platelet syndrome, reversible cerebral vasoconstriction syndrome, posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome (PRES), dural venous thrombosis, and central retinal arteriolar occlusion. We report a case of a 35-year-old patient who underwent an elective caesarean section under spinal anaesthesia and developed a headache followed by loss of vision and seizures during the postoperative period.
