Background: Lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) contribute to erectile dysfunction (ED) and premature ejaculation (PE). However, only a few studies have been conducted with representative groups of men that had well-balanced demographic characteristics. Thus, we aimed to confirm the effect of LUTS on ED and PE and to analyze the association between LUTS and men's sexual activity in a large representative cohort.

Introduction And Hypothesis: In the setting of recurrent female urethral stricture, urethroplasty offer the best chance of cure. However, which approach (dorsal or ventral) and which tissue (buccal mucosa, vaginal graft, vaginal flap) remain areas of controversy. In this article and accompanying video, we describe female urethroplasty with a supraurethral approach using a buccal mucosa graft.

Article Synopsis
  • Robot-assisted technology is becoming increasingly common in urological oncological surgery and is being applied to functional reconstructive and neuro-urology procedures, showing established benefits.
  • A literature review was conducted from PubMed to evaluate robotic applications in procedures like ureteric reimplantation and artificial urinary sphincters, highlighting the need for more prospective studies due to a current scarcity of data.
  • Despite the clear advantages of robotic assistance—such as improved ergonomics, reduced blood loss, and shorter hospital stays—further research with larger cohorts is necessary to confirm long-term efficacy and impact on patient outcomes.

Context: Intermittent self-dilatation (ISD) is a therapeutic strategy used to stabilise a urethral stricture and postpone or avoid further treatment. Adding corticosteroids to this mode of management might further enhance its outcomes by downregulation of collagen deposition and excessive scar tissue formation.

Objective: To explore whether a course of ISD with topical corticosteroids is superior at stabilising urethral stricture disease in men and improving functional outcomes over a course of ISD alone.

Purpose: Female representation at scientific conferences is crucial for encouraging women pursuing an academic career. Nevertheless, gender inequity at urological conferences is common place and women are often stereotyped choosing functional urology. However, there is no evidence whether female representation is higher in functional urology.

Introduction: Urethral bulking agents are commonly used to manage female stress urinary incontinence (SUI) as they have been suggested to be safe, efficacious, and a minimally invasive surgical option. Bulkamid is a newer bulking agent that has been introduced and promoted in the market for use. It is non-particulate in nature with high tissue biocompatibility, and consequently, it is difficult to differentiate between Bulkamid and a periurethral cyst on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

It is not possible to diagnose the cause of voiding difficulty on the basis of a history alone. Bladder underactivity and bladder outlet obstruction cause similar voiding symptoms and also can be associated with storage symptoms. In this mini-review, we consider the factors associated with making a symptomatic diagnosis of either underactive bladder or bladder outlet obstruction.
