Orodispersible films (ODFs) are solid pharmaceutical forms for rapid local or systemic release of active ingredients. They are formed by a water-soluble polymer film that hydrates rapidly, adhering and dissolving immediately when placed on the tongue or in the oral cavity. In this paper, we describe the compatibility and disintegration times of compounded ODFs using OrPhyllo, a new ready-to-use-vehicle, and APIs from different pharmacological classes, such as 5-hydroxytryptophan (5-HTP) 50 mg, bromopride 5 mg, coenzyme Q10 20 mg, melatonin 3 mg, resveratrol 5 mg, tadalafil 10 mg, vitamin B12 1 mg, or vitamin D3 2000 UI.

Vitamin D deficiency is currently considered a pandemic and is associated with comorbidities including psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis (PsA).
Objectives: To determine the prevalence of hypovitaminosis D [25(OH)D] in patients with plaque psoriasis, with and without PsA, and of independent predictors of serum 25(OH)D levels.
Fibromyalgia (FM) is an idiopathic disorder characterized by generalized pain and associated symptoms such as depression and anxiety. Cannabis sativa shows different pharmacological activities, such as analgesic, anti-inflammatory, neuroprotective, and immunomodulatory. Associated with this, the use of an oil with low concentrations of THC can reduce the psychomimetic adverse effects of the plant.

CTK 01512-2 toxin is a recombinant peptide of the Phα1β version derived from the venom of the Phoneutria nigriventer spider. It acts as an N-type voltage-gated calcium channel (VGCC) blocker and shows a prolonged effect on preventing and reducing nociception. Herein, CTK 01512-2 was tested on two models of persistent pain, the chronic post-ischemia pain (CPIP) and the paclitaxel-induced peripheral neuropathy, to evaluate its systemic, intrathecal, and intracerebroventricular effects on mechanical hypersensitivity and thermal allodynia.

The use of a drop-on-solid printing approach facilitates an accurate and reproducible process while it controls the deposition of the drug amounts. For the purpose of the study, the effect of the solvent was investigated and minoxidil ink solutions of ethanol 70% / (P70) or absolute ethanol (P100) were applied on the plain PVA tablets.

Rosmarinic acid (RA), an ester of caffeic acid and 3, 4-dihydroxyphenyllactic acid, has anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective activities. Herein, this study investigated in silico the drug-likeness and the potential molecular targets to RA. Moreover, it tested the antidepressant-like potential of RA in the lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced depression model.

Background: Psoriatic arthritis is the most frequent and impactful comorbidity among psoriatic patients and appears in most cases after skin disease. Dermatologists play a key role in its early diagnosis and treatment.
Objective: To determine the prevalence of psoriatic arthritis and associated variables among patients with plaque psoriasis seen at a reference center for treating psoriasis.
Objective: Develop and assess a transdermal emulsion loaded with nanostructured lipid carriers for vitamin D supplementation.
Methods: Vitamin D loaded nanostructured lipid carriers, produced via high shear homogenization and ultrasonication, were assessed for their particle size, distribution, morphology, zeta potential, entrapment efficiency, and cytotoxicity. They were incorporated into a transdermal vehicle, and the stability and ex vivo permeation were evaluated.

Resveratrol, a potent antioxidant, can be an alternative semen extender constituent to protect spermatozoa against reactive oxygen species (ROS); however, effects on sperm quality post-thawing and sperm function is not well understood. This study, therefore, was conducted to investigate effects of resveratrol supplementation to semen extender on sperm quality post-thawing. Bull semen was cryopreserved using extenders not supplemented or supplemented with 0.

Purpose: We aimed at verifying whether resveratrol can decrease cell proliferation and change osteogenic differentiation of cells obtained from patients with type 1 neurofibromatosis (NF1).
Methods: Deciduous dental pulp derived stem cells were isolated from NF1 patient and healthy volunteer. These cells were subjected to increasing concentrations of resveratrol and evaluated for proliferation and mineralization of osteogenic differentiation.
Depression has a multifactorial etiology that arises from environmental, psychological, genetic, and biological factors. Environmental stress and genetic factors acting through immunological and endocrine responses generate structural and functional changes in the brain, inducing neurogenesis and neurotransmission dysfunction. Terpineol, monoterpenoid alcohol, has shown immunomodulatory and neuroprotective effects, but there is no report about its antidepressant potential.

To evaluate the potential health risks of airborne cellulose nanofibers, the cellulose nanofiber was prepared and characterized and then its pulmonary potential toxicity to a mouse model was studied. Cellulose nanofiber has been prepared by acid hydrolysis of cotton cellulose and characterized by transmission electron microscopy, zeta potential and X-ray diffraction analysis.

Methods: A total of 30 women between 25 and 64 years old with a diagnosis of endometriosis participated in the present study, as well as 30 matched control women from the same age group, asymptomatic and without family history of the disease. The patients genotypic and allelic frequencies of polymorphisms in the gene (rs13394619) and in the intergenic region at position 7p15.
Inflammaging is known as an imbalance between pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory immune mechanisms, being related to the onset of neurological disorders, such as major depression and Alzheimer's disease. Considering the known disadvantages regarding the FDA approved drug to manage such illnesses, resveratrol emerges as a natural drug candidate, despite its low bioavailability. In this study, resveratrol analogues were evaluated for their capacity of inhibiting acetylcholinesterase in silico, in vitro, and in vivo.

Additionally, citral produces long-lasting inhibition of transient receptor potential (TRP) channels that are found in sensory neurons, such as TRPV1-3 and TRPM8, while it transiently blocks TRPV4 and TRPA1. Here, the effect of citral in experimental models of acute inflammation and hyperalgesia in mice, and the underlying citral mechanisms of action were investigated.

Halitosis can be described as unpleasant odors emanating from the oral cavity. It is usually associated with decomposition action of bacteria present mainly on the back of the tongue and periodontal pockets, and able to produce volatile sulfur compounds. We conducted a study at the Faculty of Dentistry, Federal University of Juiz de Fora and evaluated the therapeutic effect of two natural extracts, Camellia sinensis (green tea) and resveratrol in the form of oral polymer films, to control halitosis.
