Current data evaluating outcomes of valve replacement surgery in patients with overweight/obesity is contradictory. There is a scarce study comparing outcomes of valve surgery considering the type of valve involved in the procedure. We followed outcomes in patients with overweight and obesity after valve replacement surgery with or without coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) and also patients with aortic valve replacement (AVR) and mitral valve replacement (MVR), separately to compare their mid-term prognosis in each group.

Background And Aims: The aim of this study is to evaluate the association of coronary computed tomography angiography derived (CCTA) plaque characteristics and the left anterior descending coronary artery (LAD) and left circumflex coronary artery (LCX) bifurcation angle with severity of coronary artery disease (CAD).

Methods: All the stable patients with suspected CAD who underwent CCTA between January to December 2021 were included. Correlation between CCTA-derived aggregated plaque volume (APV), LAD-LCX angle, remodeling index (RI), coronary calcium score with Gensini score in conventional angiography were assessed.

Background And Aims: β-Thalassemia patients may have cardiac complications due to iron overload, which puts them at higher risk of cardiac complications induced by coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) compared with the normal population. The present study aims to evaluate early cardiovascular complications following iron overload in β-thalassemia patients who had early recovery from COVID-19 by cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and feature-tracking technique.

Methods: Thirty-two confirmed COVID-19-recovered β-thalassemia cases were evaluated within 3 weeks to 3 months after a positive reverse-transcriptase polymerase chain reaction COVID-19 test.
