In 2009, the Australasian Society of Infectious Diseases published guidelines on the post-arrival health assessment of recently arrived refugees. Since then, the number of refugees and asylum seekers reaching Australia has increased substantially (17 555 refugees in 2015-16) and the countries of origin have changed. These groups are likely to have had poor access to health care pre-arrival and, consequently, are at risk of a range of chronic and infectious diseases.

Purpose: This study explores experiences of TDF use by professionals from multiple disciplines across diverse clinical settings.
Methods: Mixed methods were used to examine experiences, attitudes, and perspectives of health professionals in using the TDF in health care implementation projects.
Increasing numbers of refugees from Burma (Myanmar) are resettling in Western countries. We performed a retrospective study of 156 Burmese refugees at an Australian teaching hospital. Of those tested, Helicobacter pylori infection affected 80%, latent tuberculosis 70%, vitamin D deficiency 37%, and strongyloidiasis 26%.

Aim: The objective of the study was to investigate the clinical significance of questionnaire-elicited or clinically reported anal symptoms for rectal Ng and Ct.
Methods: During 2002 to 2003, men who have sex with men (MSM) screened or tested for Ng or Ct according to the national guidelines were invited to participate in a questionnaire.
Leiomyosarcoma is a rare Epstein-Barr virus (EBV)-related complication of solid-organ transplantation. We report the case of a 19-year-old woman with cystic fibrosis who presented with protracted headaches 15 months after an EBV-mismatched bilateral sequential lung transplant. A parasagittal lesion was found on cranial magnetic resonance imaging; surgical resection revealed a leiomyosarcoma.
