In this paper, we evaluate the application of curved detectors and freeform optics technologies for fiber Bragg gratings (FBGs) interrogation monitors design. It is shown that, in a high-dispersion spectrograph scheme, the camera part operates in special conditions, which result in a field curvature change. This field curvature can be compensated by the use of a curved detector.

Article Synopsis
  • The article discusses a model for a spectrograph using a series of volume-phase holographic gratings to achieve continuous wavelength detection with high spectral resolution and throughput.
  • It highlights challenges in managing cross-talk between gratings and stray light, which are critical for accurate measurements.
  • The testing showed impressive results with a throughput of up to 53% and minimal issues with cross-talk or ghost images, even when using common holographic materials.
