Adaptive Sampling Methods for Molecular Dynamics in the Era of Machine Learning.

Molecular dynamics (MD) simulations are fundamental computational tools for the study of proteins and their free energy landscapes. However, sampling protein conformational changes through MD simulations is challenging due to the relatively long time scales of these processes. Many enhanced sampling approaches have emerged to tackle this problem, including biased sampling and path-sampling methods.

Biomarkers in the management of ulcerative colitis: a brief review.

Several attempts have been made in the last two decades to investigate ulcerative colitis (UC) patients during the natural course of the disease so as to identify appropriate surrogate markers of disease activity. Most patients with quiescent inflammatory bowel disease have low grade inflammation and it is possible that relapse occurs only once the inflammatory process crosses a critical intensity. Since inflammation is a continuous process, its direct assessment may provide us a quantitative pre-symptomatic measure of imminent relapse.

Complex regional pain syndrome (reflex sympathetic dystrophy) in a patient with essential mixed cryoglobulinemia and chronic hepatitis C.

Essential mixed cryoglobulinemia (EMC) is a common extra-hepatic manifestation of hepatitis C virus (HCV). Complex Regional Pain Syndrome type I (CRPS) or Reflex sympathetic dystrophy (RSD) has never been reported in association with HCV. This is the first case report of RSD in a patient with HCV related cirrhosis and EMC.
