Directors of NAACLS approved and accredited programs were surveyed to investigate their knowledge and perceptions of EF and associations with disabilities and student behaviors.
Design: This was a non-experimental survey consisting of questions related to the use of essential functions (EF) and student behaviors in NAACLS laboratory programs.
Objective: To define entry level competencies in flow cytometry for CLS generalists.
Design: Flow cytometry practitioners completed an electronic survey. Of 134 respondents, 131 met the desired demographics and were analyzed.
The influence of the training, experience, and credentials of testing personnel in the increasingly complex laboratory is a significant concern. A retrospective study compared the relationship of proficiency testing (PT) performance with the credentials of the testing personnel using logistic regression analyses. Predictor variables included the practitioner's college major, degree, certification, and years of laboratory experience.

Background: Previous studies have shown that the presence of conduct disorder may contribute to the persistence of attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) symptomatology into adolescence; however, the aetiological relationship between the two phenotypes remains undetermined. Furthermore, studies utilizing multiple informants have indicated that teacher ratings of these phenotypes are more valid than maternal reports.
Methods: The genetic structure underlying the persistence of ADHD and oppositional-defiant disorder/conduct disorder (ODD/CD) symptomatologies as rated by mothers and teachers at two occasions of measurement was investigated on a sample of 494 male and 603 female same sex adolescent twin pairs participating in the Virginia Twin Study of Adolescent Behavioral Development (VTSABD).
Applications of nucleic acid testing in most areas of the clinical laboratory have increased rapidly. The advantages of nucleic acid testing include enhanced specificity and sensitivity, ease of sample procurement, and more rapid turnaround time compared to conventional laboratory testing methods. However, the cost of testing is usually higher due to the need for additional laboratory space, specialized equipment, safety apparel, and the need for highly trained personnel.

The phenotypic and genetic interrelationships underlying ADHD symptomatology assessed by various instruments were examined on a sample of 735 male and 819 female same-sex twin pairs, aged 8 to 16 years, participating in the first phase of the Virginia Twin Study of Adolescent Behavioral Development (VTSABD). Multivariate analyses were applied to parental and teacher ratings from an investigator-based interview, the CAPA, and three questionnaires (the CBCL and the Rutter Parent and Teacher Scales). Results from patterns of intercorrelations and factor analyses of maternal measures suggested that at the phenotypic level, these assessed the same underlying behavioural construct, which differed from other emotional and behavioural constructs.
