Barium fluoride borosilicate glass samples reinforced with varying amounts of GdO (BSBLG0-BSBLG4) have been manufactured using the conventional melt quenching procedure in order to provide additional research on the type of borosilicate glass. Structural, physical, and linear optical characteristics as well as γ-ray attenuation capacity of barium fluoride borosilicate doped with GdO was investigated. X-ray diffraction pattern proving the amorphous nature of the glass samples due to the absence of a distinctive crystalline characteristic peak.

This study was on the optoelectronic properties of multilayered two-dimensional MoS and WS materials on a silicon substrate using sputtering physical vapor deposition (PVD) and chemical vapor deposition (CVD) techniques. For the first time, we report ultraviolet (UV) photoresponses under air, CO, and O environments at different flow rates. The electrical Hall effect measurement showed the existence of MoS (n-type)/Si (p-type) and WS (P-type)/Si (p-type) heterojunctions with a higher sheet carrier concentration of 5.

Mixed matrix woven forward osmosis (MMWFO) membranes made of polyethersulfone (PES)/graphene oxide nanosheets (GO NSs) were made by inserting varying wt% ratios of GO NSs (zero to 0.1 wt%) into the PES matrix. A coated woven fabric material was used to cast the membrane polymer solution.

The biosynthesis of silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) has been studied in detail using two different approaches. For the first time, Bacillus cereus is used for one-pot biosynthesis of capsulated Ag NPs, using both intracellular and extracellular approaches. To discriminate between the produced nanostructures by these two approaches, their structures, nanomorphologies, optical properties, hydrodynamic sizes and zeta potentials are studied using different techniques.

Treatment of produced water in oil fields has become a tough challenge for oil producers. Nanofiltration, a promising method for water treatment, has been proposed as a solution. The phase inversion technique was used for the synthesis of nanofiltration membranes of polyethersulfone embedded with graphene oxide nanoparticles and polyethersulfone embedded with titanium nanoribbons.

Rock wool (RW) nanostructures of various sizes and morphologies were prepared using a combination of ball-mill and hydrothermal techniques, followed by an annealing process. Different tools were used to explore the morphologies, structures, chemical compositions and optical characteristics of the samples. The effect of initial particle size on the characteristics and photoelectrochemical performance of RW samples generated hydrothermally was investigated.

Reduced graphene oxide (rGO)/bismuth vanadate BiVO composites are fabricated with varied rGO amounts (0, 1, 2, and 3 wt%) through the synergetic effects of ultrasonication, photoinduced reduction, and hydrothermal methods, and the materials are tested as tools for sonophotocatalytic methylene blue (MB) dye degradation. The effect of rGO content on the sonophotocatalytic dye degradation capabilities of the composites are explored. Characterization of the proposed materials is done through transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), Fourier transformation infrared spectroscopy as well as scanning electron microscopy.

The nonlinear optical (NLO) properties of gold (Au) doped graphyne (GY) complexes are the subject of this quantum mechanical investigation. Detailed profiling of GY@Au, GY@Au, GY@2AuGY@2Au, and GY@3Au is accomplished at CAM-B3LYP/LANL2DZ. The differential influence of various GY based complexes on molecular geometry, vertical ionization energy (VIE), interaction energy (E), frontier molecular orbitals (FMOs), density of states (DOS), absorption maximum (λ), molecular electrostatic potential (MEP), electron density distribution map (EDDM), transition density matrix (TDM), dipole moment (μ) and non-linear optical (NLO) properties have been investigated.

A well-defined heterojunction among two dissimilar semiconductors exhibited enhanced photocatalytic performance owing to its capability for boosting the photoinduced electron/hole pair transportation. Therefore, designing and developing such heterojunctions using diverse semiconductor-based materials to enhance the photocatalytic ability employing various approaches have gained research attention. For this objective, g-CN is considered as a potential photocatalytic material for organic dye degradation; however, the rapid recombination rate of photoinduced charge carriers restricts the widespread applications of g-CN.

Nanofiltration methods were used and evaluated for strontium removal from wastewater. The phase inversion method was used to create a variety of polyethersulfone (PES)/TiO nanoribbons (TNRs)-multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) membranes with varied ratios of TNR-MWCNT nanocomposite. The hydrothermal technique was applied to synthesize the nanocomposite (TNRs-MWCNTs), which was then followed by chemical vapor deposition (CVD).
