A study investigated radionuclide levels and biochemical components in mussels along the Algerian coast to assess how biological factors influence radionuclide concentrations.
Mussels were collected from three locations and underwent biomonitoring; biochemical analysis showed carbohydrates were the most prevalent component.
The results indicated low levels of cesium and varying concentrations of potassium and lead, with bioaccumulation dependent on the growing site and duration of monitoring.
