Objectives: To demonstrate how nurses in pediatric care provide information and maintain access to health care for children with complex chronic conditions utilizing e-health or in-person support methods.
Methods: The study involved 12 nurses/specialist nurses from the medical departments at Queen Silvia Children's Hospital in Gothenburg. A qualitative method was employed, using individual interviews with a semi-structured guide and analyzed using a reflexive thematic analysis method.
Mycoplasma pneumoniae and Chlamydia pneumoniae are key agents of atypical pneumonia. During a 2023 M. pneumoniae outbreak in Denmark, a high-throughput laboratory-developed test (LDT) was created for the Hologic Panther Fusion system using Open Access software.

This study used non-native cane toads (Rhinella marina) to examine PFAS and metal accumulation and impacts in large terrestrial amphibians from urban and peri-urban areas. We quantified 38 PFAS compounds and 36 environmental and legacy metal(loid)s in 52 adult cane toad livers collected from six locations around Southeast Queensland, Australia, along a known PFAS gradient.

Associations between CD and other autoimmune disorders have been extensively reported. However, the risk in CD patients of developing immune-mediated renal diseases (IMRDs) as a function of the duration of exposure to gluten remains uncharacterized.

Stress responses provide an ideal model for investigating the evolution of complex behaviors due to their conservation across species, critical role in survival, and integration of behavioral and physiological components. The Mexican cavefish () has evolved dramatically different stress responses compared to river-dwelling surface fish morphs, providing a model to investigate the neural and evolutionary basis of stress-like responses.

Background: Australia's long running human biomonitoring (HBM) program has provided information on per and poly-fluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) serum concentrations in the general population since 2002. The program is based on pooling and analysis of surplus, de-identified, pathology specimens predominantly sourced from Australia's north-eastern state Queensland (QLD). To date, potential nationwide spatial differences across Australia have not been assessed.

Although it has been suggested that PFAS exposure might be associated with harmful effects on the brain, few studies have assessed the presence of PFAS in brain tissues. This study aimed to evaluate the concentrations of a broad range of PFAS in paired postmortem human brain and serum samples and investigate brain-to-serum concentration ratios.

Objective: It can be challenging to determine the correct dosage of recombinant growth hormone (GH) in children with GH deficiency, leading to highly variable treatment responses. Insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) is a tool for monitoring GH treatment and dosing. However, IGF-1 levels depend on sex, age, and pubertal stage, amongst other factors, making its interpretation somewhat difficult.

The study aim was to investigate the impact of predictive markers on long-term outcomes. The clinical outcomes of 100 patients with chronic hepatitis B were investigated 30 years after a baseline assessment that included liver biopsy.

This study aimed to investigate the incidence and risk factors, including immunosuppression, for different manifestations of VZV-associated CNS infection. Patient registers were used to include adults diagnosed with VZV-associated CNS infections between 2010 and 2019 in Sweden.

Specific research questions were as follows: Is the translated versions reliable? Is there a correlation between VCM and another questionnaire measuring discomfort to enhance the validity of VCM? The three versions of Visual CARE measure (VCM) were translated following the principles of good practice for translation and cultural adaptation of patient-reported outcome measures, according to the International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research (ISPOR). Cognitive debriefing interviews with children, parents, and healthcare professionals were carried out.

However, to date, no technically viable sensor solution exists that meets the corresponding response time targets under technically relevant conditions. Here, we demonstrate how a tailored long short-term transformer ensemble model for accelerated sensing (LEMAS) speeds up the response of an optical plasmonic hydrogen sensor by up to a factor of 40 and eliminates its intrinsic pressure dependence in an environment emulating the inert gas encapsulation of large-scale hydrogen installations by accurately predicting its response value to a hydrogen concentration change before it is physically reached by the sensor hardware.

HCV is curable, but HBV and HIV are only suppressible, with a vaccine available solely for HBV. Innovative diagnostic methods are needed, especially for high-risk populations like people who inject drugs (PWID).

Its importance in methane chemistry arises from its role as a primary byproduct during the initial phase of methane dehydrogenation. Detecting the CH radical is challenging due to its high reactivity and the prevalence of strongly pre-dissociative electronically excited states.

This study assessed age, gender, and temporal trends of BZTs and BTs in deidentified surplus pathology urine samples, pooled and stratified by age, gender, and sample collection year from a general Australian population (168 pools representing 16,800 individuals). Tolyltriazole (TTri), 5,6-dimethyl-1H-benzotriazole (DMBZT), 1,3-benzothiazole (BTH), 2-hydroxybenzothiazole (2-OH-BTH), and 2-aminobenzothiazole (2-amino-BTH) were detected in >50% of the pools.

However, successful adoption requires that mHealth solutions have good usability. We have previously implemented a telephone service to provide mental health information and advice in English and Luganda, utilizing an automated interactive voice response (IVR) system linked to live agents, including mental health care workers and peer support workers.

There is strong evidence for psychosocial interventions and medication for treatment of ADHD core symptoms, but these alone do not always reach a satisfactory outcome. The aim of this small-scale study was to evaluate the impact of tactile massage on ADHD core symptoms in adolescents in a clinical setting.

A 15-week resistance training intervention (RTI) significantly reduced moderate-to-severe VMS (MS-VMS) and improved health-related quality of life (HRQoL) and cardiovascular risk markers in postmenopausal women. Whether a short RTI could have long-term effects is unknown.

While pharmacological inhibition of ANGPTL3 is being evaluated as a lipid-lowering strategy, systemic ANGPTL4 inhibition is not pursued due to adverse effects. This study aims to compare the therapeutic potential of liver-specific Angptl3 and Angptl4 silencing to attenuate hyperlipidemia and atherosclerosis development in APOE*3-Leiden.

Background: Venipuncture is one of the most commonly performed medical procedures in paediatric care, but it can also be one of the most painful and distressing experiences for patients. Finding effective strategies to manage pain and fear associated with venipuncture is crucial for improving the paediatric patient experience and promoting positive health outcomes. This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of a combined approach using a topical analgesic cream (TKTX cream) and a distraction technique (Trace Image and Colouring for Kids-Book, TICK-B) in reducing pain intensity and fear levels in children undergoing venipuncture procedures.
