Apparatus to study crystal channeling and volume reflection phenomena at the SPS H8 beamline.

A high performance apparatus has been designed and built by the H8-RD22 collaboration for the study of channeling and volume reflection phenomena in the interaction of 400 GeV/c protons with bent silicon crystals, during the 2006 data taking in the external beamline H8 of the CERN SPS. High-quality silicon short crystals were bent by either anticlastic or quasimosaic effects. Alignment with the highly parallel (8 murad divergence) proton beam was guaranteed through a submicroradian goniometric system equipped with both rotational and translational stages.

Observation of a narrow charm-strange meson D(+)(sJ)(2632)-->D(+)(s)eta and D(0)K(+).

We report the first observation of a charm-strange meson D(+)(sJ)(2632) at a mass of 2632.5+/-1.7 MeV/c(2) in data from SELEX, the charm hadro-production experiment E781 at Fermilab.

Synthesis, immunomodulating activity and (1)H NMR studies of 7-oxo-9,11-ethano-13-azaprostanoids.

Novel 9,11-ethano analogues of prostaglandin endoperoxides with a nitrogen in position 13 were synthesized. (1)H NMR spectra of the obtained compounds were studied. All prostanoids administered perorally at doses of 2.

First observation of the doubly charmed baryon Xi(+)(cc).

We observe a signal for the doubly charmed baryon Xi(+)(cc) in the charged decay mode Xi(+)(cc)-->Lambda(+)(c)K-pi(+) in data from SELEX, the charm hadroproduction experiment at Fermilab. We observe an excess of 15.9 events over an expected background of 6.

Precision measurements of the lambda(+)(c) and D0 lifetimes.

We report new precision measurements of the lifetimes of the Lambda(+)(c) and D0 from SELEX, the charm hadroproduction experiment at Fermilab. Based upon 1630 Lambda(+)(c) and 10 210 D0 decays we observe lifetimes of tau[Lambda(+)(c)] = 198.1+/-7.

Observation of the Cabibbo-Suppressed Decay Ξ_{c}^{+} → pK^{-}π^{+}.

We report the first observation of the Cabibbo-suppressed charm baryon decay Ξ_{c}^{+}→pK^{-}π^{+}. We observe 150±22±5 events for the signal. The data were accumulated using the SELEX spectrometer during the 1996-1997 fixed target run at Fermilab, chiefly from a 600 GeV/c Σ^{-} beam.

[The antithromboxane activity of alpha- and omega-modified carbocyclic analogs of PGH1].

In in vitro experiments on a model of arachidonate- and thrombin-induced platelet aggregation, analogues of PG endoperoxides displayed an antiaggregatory effect or stimulated spontaneous platelet aggregation in the whole blood of man and rabbits, but a slight antiaggregatory effect in the rabbit intact organism. The presence of the hydroxyl group instead of the routine alkyl omega-chain produced an antiaggregatory effect due to TxA2 receptor blockade.
