For salt-wasting 21-hydroxylase deficiency (21OHD), fludrocortisone (FC) is usually supplemented at 0.05-0.2 mg/d dose.

We aimed to evaluate the prescription rate of conventional medical therapy and its association with long-term outcomes in patients eligible for recent trials.
Methods: We examined 1295 consecutive patients with HF with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) from a multicenter registry (WET-HF registry).
Objectives: To evaluate the impact of medication on antibody response to severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 mRNA vaccines in Japanese patients with rheumatic diseases.
Methods: This prospective multicentre cohort study evaluated the humoral response in 12 different medication groups. Antibody levels before the first vaccination and 3-6 weeks after the second vaccination were measured using the Elecsys Anti-SARS-CoV-2 S assay.
An 82-year-old man with fever and back pain was referred to our hospital and was thus found to be thrombocytopenic. A bone marrow biopsy revealed the diffuse infiltration of poorly differentiated neuroendocrine carcinoma (NEC). Computed tomography revealed a large hepatic mass.

However, perioperative bleeding is greater with one-stage bilateral TKA than with unilateral TKA and is more likely to require allogeneic blood transfusion. At our hospital, we normally store autologous blood about 1 month before surgery to reduce the need for allogeneic blood transfusion and avoid its adverse reactions as much as possible.

We lack a comprehensive map of human distal airways, including the terminal and respiratory bronchioles (TRBs), which are implicated in respiratory diseases. Here, using spatial transcriptomics and single-cell profiling of microdissected distal airways, we identify molecularly distinct TRB cell types that have not-to our knowledge-been previously characterized.

GNAS variants with inactivating properties are associated with Albright's hereditary osteodystrophy (AHO) and when maternally inherited, pseudohypoparathyroidism 1a (OMIM#103580), which includes multiple hormone resistance.

Methods: A two-centers observational study. Over 14 years, consecutive 2362 chest CT scans (1666 pacemakers [PMs], 145 cardiac resynchronization therapy PM, 316 implantable cardioverter-defibrillator, and 233 cardiac resynchronization therapy defibrillator) were interrogated and monitored upon imaging.
Thymic mucoepidermoid carcinoma (MEC) is a rare tumor, and its characteristics remain to be clarified. Here we investigated 20 cases of thymic MEC to systematically characterize its clinical, histopathologic, and molecular features. The median age of the patients was 56 years (range, 19 to 80 y), there was a slight male predilection (3:2), and 44% of the patients were asymptomatic at diagnosis.

To clarify the physiological characteristics of this fungus, we investigated the influence of culture medium, temperature, and sources of nitrogen (N) and carbon (C) on the growth of five strains. strains grew better on malt extract and modified Melin-Norkrans medium, and showed peak growth at 20 °C or 25 °C.

Methods: Patients with human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2)-positive advanced gastric cancer who were previously treated with trastuzumab received trastuzumab every 3 weeks and irinotecan every 2 weeks. The primary endpoint was the overall response rate (ORR), and the secondary endpoints included progression-free survival (PFS), 6-month survival rates, safety, and subgroup analysis by HER2 status.
Purpose: Dysgeusia is an adverse event caused by chemotherapy. Although retrospective studies have shown zinc administration improves dysgeusia, there have been no prospective studies. The present study examined effects of zinc therapy on dysgeusia in patients with gastrointestinal cancer.

Contamination by impurities occurs during the melting of raw materials and during the crystal growth process. Quantitative analysis of impurity transfer using numerical and experimental analysis is important to control impurity concentrations.

A 69-year-old man initially experienced dyspnea and hypoxemia in the sitting position after developing hemiplegia and postural instability secondary to a cerebral hemorrhage, but the symptoms improved in the supine position. Transesophageal echocardiography revealed a patent foramen ovale (PFO).

The distribution of causative microorganisms is important for estimating pathogens and making decisions regarding the treatment plan, as antimicrobial agents are not required for mild bacterial enteritis cases but are used for severe cases or immunocompromised patients.
Methods: We retrospectively surveyed pediatric patients who underwent stool culture at eight hospitals in the Kanto region of Japan from 2014 to 2019 for patient characteristics, causative microorganisms, and prescribed antimicrobial agents.
High-pressure techniques open exploration of functional materials in broad research fields. An established diamond anvil cell with a boron-doped diamond heater and transport measurement terminals has performed the high-pressure synthesis of a cubic SnS superconductor. X-ray diffraction and Raman spectroscopy reveal that the SnS phase is stable in the pressure range of > 5 GPa in a decompression process.

In this study, the phenotype, genotype and the phylogeny of UPEC strains isolated from the urine of pediatric female patients with cystitis of normal and abnormal urinary tract were determined. Multiplex PCR results demonstrated that 86% of the strains isolated from female patients with normal urinary tract (NUT), belonged to the phylo-groups B2 and D.

Mouse-adapted SARS-CoV-2 MA10 produces an acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) in mice similar to humans. To investigate PASC pathogenesis, studies of MA10-infected mice were extended from acute disease through clinical recovery.

It requires a high performance pure spin current source with a large spin Hall angle and high electrical conductivity, which can be fabricated by a mass production technique. In this work, we demonstrate ultrahigh efficient and robust SOT magnetization switching in fully sputtered BiSb topological insulator and perpendicularly magnetized Co/Pt multilayers.
