First Observation of an Attractive Interaction between a Proton and a Cascade Baryon.

This Letter presents the first experimental observation of the attractive strong interaction between a proton and a multistrange baryon (hyperon) Ξ^{-}. The result is extracted from two-particle correlations of combined p-Ξ^{-}⊕p[over ¯]-Ξ[over ¯]^{+} pairs measured in p-Pb collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=5.02  TeV at the LHC with ALICE.

Serendipitous Assembly of Mixed Phase BiVO on B-Doped g-CN: An Appropriate p-n Heterojunction for Photocatalytic O evolution and Cr(VI) reduction.

Type II p-n heterojunction B-doped g-CN/BiVO moieties have been fabricated by depositing n-type BiVO on the surface of p-type 1 wt % B-doped g-CN for the first time. The materials were characterized by PXRD, XPS, UV-vis DRS, IR, PL, and Raman analysis. The photocatalytic activities of as synthesized samples were studied toward reduction of Cr(VI) and water splitting reaction to generate oxygen.

Surface-Plasmon-Resonance-Induced Photocatalysis by Core-Shell SiO@Ag NCs@AgPO toward Water-Splitting and Phenol Oxidation Reactions.

A series of core-shell-structured SiO@Ag NCs@AgPO photocatalysts with varying percentages of silver nanoclusters (Ag NCs) have been synthesized by using SiO as a core material. The crystal structure, morphology, chemical composition, and photophysical properties of as-synthesized materials have been thoroughly analyzed through powder X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, UV-vis diffuse-reflectance spectroscopy, and photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy techniques. The introduction of Ag NCs has effectively reduced the photogenerated electron-hole recombination rate, as evidenced from PL and Nyquist plots.

Ventilator Mode Does Not Influence Blood Loss or Transfusion Requirements During Major Spine Surgery: A Retrospective Study.

Background: Blood loss during adult spinal deformity surgery is multifactorial. Anesthetic-related factors, such as mode of mechanical ventilation, may contribute to intraoperative blood loss. The aim of this study was to determine the influence of ventilator mode and ventilator parameters on intraoperative blood loss and transfusion requirements in patients undergoing prone position spine surgery.

Evaluation of Traumatic Spine by Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Its Correlation with Cliniconeurological Outcome.

Background: Spinal trauma is associated with long-term disability. Early detection can lead to prompt and accurate diagnosis, expeditious management, and avoidance of unnecessary procedures. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) helps to accurately depict the presence and extent of spinal cord injury (SCI) in these patients.

Uncovering of natural allelic variants of key yield contributing genes by targeted resequencing in rice (Oryza sativa L.).

In rice (Oryza sativa L.), during the course of domestication, numerous beneficial alleles remain untapped in the progenitor wild species and landraces. This study aims at uncovering these promising alleles of six key genes influencing the yield, such as DEP1, Ghd7, Gn1a, GS3, qSW5 and sd1 by targeted resequencing of the 200 rice genotypes.

Maffucci syndrome and anaesthesia: Case report.

Maffucci syndrome is an extremely rare, sporadic, and nonhereditary disease characterized by enchondromatosis, bony abnormalities, and vascular malformations. We report a successful anaesthetic management of an adult patient with Maffucci syndrome scheduled for surgical excision of parathyroid adenoma, who had numerous enchondromas, haemangiomas, and skeletal deformities involving different parts of the body and posing significant challenge during positioning, securing intravenous access, and insertion of endotracheal tube. Awareness about this syndrome is of paramount importance because similar patients may be encountered with increasing frequency for incidental or corrective surgeries.

Individualized Quality Data Feedback Improves Anesthesiology Residents' Documentation of Depth of Neuromuscular Blockade Before Extubation.

Reversal of neuromuscular blockade is an important anesthesia quality measure, and anesthesiologists should strive to improve both documentation and practice of this measure. We hypothesized that the use of an electronic quality database to give individualized resident anesthesiologist feedback would increase the percentage of cases that residents successfully documented quantitative depth of neuromuscular blockade before extubation. Effect of Prone Positional Apparatus on the Occurrence of Acute Kidney Injury After Spine Surgery.

Background And Objective: Increased intra-abdominal pressure with prone positioning for spinal surgery is associated with intraoperative hemodynamic alterations and the potential for postoperative complications. This study investigated the incidence of postoperative acute kidney injury (AKI) in patients undergoing spine surgery on a Jackson spinal table or a Wilson frame.

Methods: A total of 1374 patients who underwent spine surgery were divided into 2 groups: Jackson spinal table (n = 598) and Wilson frame group (n = 776).

In this study, historical topographic sheets, IRS P6 LISS-III, and LANDSAT TM images were used to provide recent and historical LULC conditions of the Eastern Ghats Highlands of east India. The supervised classification results were further improved by employing image enhancement and visual interpretation.

Variability of organic nitrogen and its role in regulating phytoplankton in the eastern Arabian Sea.

The relative importance of organic nitrogen (ON) and inorganic nitrogen (IN) as nitrogen sources for the phytoplankton communities were studied through a seasonal time series of nitrogen species in the eastern Arabian Sea. Seasonal data on nitrogen species showed that ON dominates the system throughout the year and account for >90% of the total nitrogen (TN) during north east monsoon (NEM).
