Intramedullary nailing of femoral shaft fractures: an analysis of rotational malunions using 3D EOS.

Purpose: Rotational malalignment and leg length discrepancy after intramedullary nailing of femoral shaft are frequent. This study has three objectives: evaluate the rate of femoral rotational malalignment and leg length discrepancy using EOS imaging after antegrade intramedullary nailing of femoral shaft fracture, find a relevant clinical examination to detect malrotation and identified risk factors.

Methods: We performed a retrospective single-centre study between January 2014 and January 2022.

We report a case of a 49-year-old patient with an isolated dorsal radial dislocation of the right trapezium that occurred in a context of polytrauma. At first, the lesion went unnoticed. The diagnosis was made 1 month later because of persistent pain in the thumb.

Heterotopic ossification after total hip arthroplasty: radiological comparison between a direct anterior approach without an orthopaedic table and a posterior approach.

Introduction: Heterotopic ossification (HO) occurs in almost ⅓ of total hip arthroplasties (THAs). A direct anterior approach (DAA) with an orthopaedic table is less likely to cause HO than a posterior approach. Without an orthopaedic table, the exposure of the femur requires additional soft tissue release.
