Article Synopsis
  • - Pituitary metastases from salivary gland cancers, like sublingual gland carcinoma, are uncommon and can be mistaken for hypophysitis due to similar imaging results, especially in patients using immune checkpoint therapies.
  • - A case study of a 52-year-old male with anorexia and visual issues revealed an intrasellar tumor that was initially suspected to be hypophysitis but was later confirmed as pituitary metastasis after ineffective corticosteroid treatment.
  • - The report underscores the importance of obtaining a pathological diagnosis in these rare cases, as imaging alone can lead to misdiagnosis and inappropriate treatment, highlighting the need for further diagnostic interventions like biopsies.
