Physical activities in childhood are important. However, a lack of exercise among children and adolescents is becoming a global reality. Proton Pump Inhibitor Use and Its Association with Lung Cancer Likelihood and Mortality: A Nationwide Nested Case-Control Study in Korea.

Background/objectives: Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) are widely used for acid-related gastrointestinal disorders, but their potential association with lung cancer risk and mortality remains underexplored and debated. This study sought to investigate the association between PPI use and lung cancer likelihood and mortality, focusing on the impact of PPI exposure history and duration.

Methods: This study utilized data from 6795 lung cancer patients, 27,180 matched controls, and 4257 deceased and 2538 surviving lung cancer patients from the Korean National Health Insurance Service's Health Screening Cohort (2002-2019).

Prevalence, Incidence, and Metabolic Characteristics of Young Adults with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus in South Korea (2010-2020).

Backgruound: This study aimed to examine trends in the prevalence, incidence, metabolic characteristics, and management of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) among young adults in South Korea.

Methods: Young adults with T2DM were defined as individuals aged 19 to 39 years who met the diagnostic criteria for T2DM. Data from the Korean National Health Insurance Service-Customized Database (2010-2020, n=225,497-372,726) were analyzed to evaluate trends in T2DM prevalence, incidence, metabolic profiles, comorbidities, and antidiabetic drug prescription.

Effect of SMS Ward Round Notifications on Inpatient Experience in Acute Medical Settings: Retrospective Cohort Study.

Background: Ward rounds are an essential component of inpatient care. Patient participation in rounds is increasingly encouraged, despite the occasional complicated circumstances, especially in acute care settings.

Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the effect of real-time ward round notifications using SMS text messaging on the satisfaction of inpatients in an acute medical ward.

Programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1) is a critical immune checkpoint receptor and a target for cancer immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI). We investigated PD-1 transcript expression across cancer types and its correlations to clinical outcomes. Using a reference population, PD-1 expression was calculated as percentiles in 489 of 514 patients (31 cancer types) with advanced/metastatic disease.
