Objective: Novel behavioral interventions are needed for patients with cancer who smoke cigarettes. Standard tobacco treatment may not effectively address the psychological distress and/or emotion dysregulation that makes quitting smoking difficult for many patients. Dialectical Behavior Therapy-Skills Training (DBT-ST) has demonstrated efficacy as a brief intervention for managing emotions and stress across varied populations but has not been adapted for patients with cancer who smoke.

Purpose/objectives: Hispanic and Latino (hereafter 'H/L') cancer survivors report higher rates of anxiety/depression and are less likely to receive psychosocial services than other survivors. We field-tested a culturally and linguistically adapted cognitive-behavioral therapy intervention with H/L post-treatment cancer survivors. Goals were to: (1) assess feasibility; (2) describe future efficacy outcomes; and (3) examine feedback for refinements.

Cerebrovascular stroke patients exhibit an increased incidence of cardiac arrhythmias. The pathomechanisms underlying post-traumatic cardiac dysfunction include a surge of catecholamines and an increased systemic inflammatory response, but whether inflammasome activation contributes to cardiac dysfunction remains unexplored. Here, we used a mouse model of photothrombotic stroke (PTS) to investigate the role of inflammasome activation in post-stroke cardiac dysfunction by catecholamines and to evaluate the effectiveness of the inflammasome inhibitor IC100 on inflammasome activation.
