The Evolution of Treatment Policies and Outcomes for Patients Aged 60 and Older with Acute Myeloid Leukemia: A Population-Based Analysis over Two Decades.

Background: Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is a malignancy of the bone marrow with a median age at diagnosis of 70 years. AML is difficult to treat, especially in older patients, among whom outcomes have historically been poor. Over the last two decades, a greater understanding of the molecular mechanisms of the pathology has led to the development of new drugs and multiple updates to treatment guidelines.

Generating Utilities for the Château-Santé Base: A Novel, Generic, and Patient-Centered Health-Outcome Measure.

Objectives: We have developed a new patient-centered, preference-based generic health-outcome measure, Château-Santé Base (CS-Base), which is based on a novel multiattribute preference response (MAPR) measurement framework. This study aimed to generate a first utility set for the CS-Base, making it suitable for use in health-economic evaluations.

Methods: CS-Base comprises 12 health attributes: mobility, vision, hearing, cognition, mood, anxiety, pain, fatigue, social functioning, daily activities, self-esteem, and independence, each with 4 levels.

Background: Transcranial Doppler (TCD) is a technique to assess blood flow velocity in the cerebral arteries. TCD is frequently used to monitor aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (aSAH) patients. This study compares TCD-criteria for vasospasm and its association with Delayed Cerebral Ischemia (DCI).

Attributes of leadership skill development in high-performance pre-hospital medical teams: results of an international multi-service prospective study.

Backgrounds: Team leadership skills of physicians working in high-performing medical teams are directly related to outcome. It is currently unclear how these skills can best be developed. Therefore, in this multi-national cross-sectional prospective study, we explored the development of these skills in relation to physician-, organization- and training characteristics of Helicopter Emergency Medicine Service (HEMS) physicians from services in Europe, the United States of America and Australia.

Learning and implementation of TransREctus sheath PrePeritoneal procedure for inguinal hernia repair.

Purpose: The TransREctus sheath PrePeritoneal procedure (TREPP) was introduced as an alternative open and preperitoneal technique for inguinal hernia mesh repair, demonstrating safety and efficacy in retro- and prospective studies. However, little is known about the technique's inherent learning curve. In this study, we aimed to determine TREPP learning curve effects after its implementation in high-volume surgical practice.
