Up to 80% of all cases of pulmonary-renal syndrome are due to systemic vasculitis associated with antibodies to neutrophil cytoplasm (ANCA). Most patients die within the first year after the onset of the disease but adequate immunosuppressive therapy ensures the 5-year survival rate of 65-75%. We obtained clinical and morphological data for 34 patients with ANCA-associated vasculitis affecting lungs and kidneys treated at S.

Merlin, the protein product of the neurofibromatosis type 2 gene (NF2) acts as a tumor suppressor in mice and humans. In this study, melanoma B16F10 cells were engineered to overexpress the NF2 gene by establishing stable transductants. A cell line overexpressing Merlin (B16F10-M) was generated.

The aim of the study was to investigate the effects of erespal (fenspirid) on the clinical manifestations and parameters of inflammation in patients with chronic obstructive lung disease (COLD). The two stages of the study included 3-weak treatment during exacerbation periods and a 3-month outpatient follow-up during clinical remission periods. Erespal was administered twice a day in a total dose of 160 mg/day.

Melanoma B16-F10 cells and Lewis lung carcinoma LL/2 cells were engineered with a bacterial gene -- chloramphenicol acetyl transferase (CAT) -- by establishing stable transductants. Expression of CAT in both cell types did not alter the ability of these cells to grow into tumors when injected subcutaneously into mice. In addition, the measurement of CAT levels in the lung using a simple ELISA assay revealed a close correlation with direct counting of metastatic nodules.

Examining the gastroduodenal mucosa (GDM) in 61 patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases (COPD) showed changes in the areas studied in all cases. GDM atrophy increased with the severity of COPD. Helicobacter pylori are essential in developing gastric pathology in patients with mild bronchopulmonary disease.
