The catalytic performance of phosphate-stabilized WO-ZrO compositions in gas-phase glycerol dehydration has been investigated. Results show that varying WO concentrations direct the process towards either acrolein or allyl alcohol formation. Catalysts with low WO content exhibit strong Lewis acid sites (Zr and W), where these metal ions likely function as redox sites, facilitating glycerol hydrogenolysis to produce allyl alcohol.

A series of silica-based aerogels comprising novel bifunctional chelating ligands was prepared. To produce target aerogels, two aminosilanes, namely (3-aminopropyl)trimethoxysilane (APTMS) and -(2-aminoethyl)-3-aminopropyltrimethoxysilane (AEAPTMS), were acylated by natural amino acids (()-(+)-2-phenylglycine or -phenylalanine), followed by gelation and supercritical drying (SCD). Lithium tetrachloropalladate was used as the metal ion source to prepare strong complexes of Pd with amino acids covalently bonded to a silica matrix.

Introduction: The design of studies aimed at finding the association between the genetic factor and the studied feature (disease) involves a comparison of the ratio of genotypes or allelic proportions in the study group with those in the control group. At the stage of determining the ratio of genotypes of the studied polymorphisms in the reference group, researchers meet a number of problems, which are the subject of the present work. Aim of the work is to provide scientific rationale for the feasibility of creating a national information system comprising genetic data of the relatively healthy population of Russia, incorporating its ethnic diversity.

The possibility of using TiO -based compositions: individual and sulfated titania, and their composites with carbon nanotubes as catalysts for glycerol oligomerization has been displayed. The effect of modification of TiO with sulfur and carbon nanotubes on acid-base and catalytic characteristics in the glycerol conversion was investigated. The activation of glycerol on the catalysts has been studied using attenuated total reflectance Fourier transform infrared (ATR-FTIR) spectroscopy.

A new para-aramid aerogel based on a polymer made by the reaction of terephthaloyl dichloride with 2-(4-aminophenyl)-1H-benzimidazol-5-amine (PABI) is introduced. The aerogel readily bound Pd (+2) ions and was used as a hydrogenation catalyst in some industrially actual reactions. The new material, which did not contain p-phenylenediamine moieties, was prepared in two form factors: bulk samples and spherical pellets of 700-900 μm in diameter.
