Introduction: Differential diagnostics of early-onset schizophrenia and autism spectrum disorders (ASD) are a problem of child psychiatry. The prognosis and relevant treatment are to a large degree determined by the correctness of diagnosis. We found earlier that leucocyte DNA of adult schizophrenia patients contained significantly larger copy numbers of ribosomal repeats (rDNA) coding for rRNA, than DNA of mentally healthy controls.

Material And Methods: The study used a database of children with childhood autism, obtained by us in 2028-2019. The study included 46 patients with childhood autism (CA) aged 2 to 13 years: median age [Q1; Q3] - 5 years [4; 7], 10 girls (22%) and 36 boys (78%)).
We aimed to screen children aged 18-48 months in the general population of nine Russian regions for risk of mental, behavioral and developmental disorders (MBDDs) including autism spectrum disorders (ASD) using an original screening tool. The prevalence of the risk for MBDDs is 1307:10,000 (13.07%), the prevalence of clinically verified cases of MBDDs is 151:10,000 (1.

We compared 75 children with COS to 75 children with ASD, 150 patients with adult-onset schizophrenia and 150 healthy individuals. Frequency of the DRD2 T-allele, assumed to be protective against schizophrenia overall, was higher in COS compared to adult-onset schizophrenia and healthy controls.
