Implementing digital respiratory technologies for people with respiratory conditions: A protocol for a scoping review.

The value of 'data-enabled', digital healthcare is evolving rapidly, as demonstrated in the COVID-19 pandemic, and its successful implementation remains complex and challenging. Harmonisation (within/between healthcare systems) of infrastructure and implementation strategies has the potential to promote safe, equitable and accessible digital healthcare, but guidance for implementation is lacking. Using respiratory technologies as an example, our scoping review process will capture and review the published research between 12th December 2013 to 12th December 2023.

Research Review: Shared and distinct structural and functional brain alterations in adolescents with major depressive disorder' - a multimodal meta-analysis.

Background: Neuroimaging studies have identified brain structural and functional alterations in adolescents with major depressive disorder (MDD); however, the results are inconsistent, and whether patients exhibit spatially convergent structural and functional brain abnormalities remains unclear.

Methods: We conducted voxel-wise meta-analysis of voxel-based morphometry (VBM) and resting-state functional studies, respectively, to identify regional gray matter volume (GMV) and brain activity alterations in adolescent MDD patients. Multimodal analysis was performed to examine the overlap of regional GMV and brain activity alterations.

Alterations in white matter microstructure in bipolar disorder patients with and without psychosis.

Objective: The overlap of affective disturbance and psychosis considerably makes it complex to determine the etiology of bipolar disorder (BD) and develop targeted interventions. The present study aimed to determine the white matter microstructural alterations that distinguish between BD with psychosis (BDP) and BD with no psychosis (BDNP) to identify patients who may specifically benefit from appropriately effective treatments.

Methods: Diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance images were acquired from 38 participants with BDP, 52 participants with BDNP and 70 healthy controls (HCs).

Invasive or Non-invasive Vagus Nerve Stimulation Modulation of Brain Function and Remodeling After Stroke: a Review.

Background: The main reason restricting stroke patients from reintegrating into society is neurological deficits. Of particular interest is the potential Vagus Nerve Stimulation (VNS) potentially offers for sustaining improvement in neurological deficits. The goal of the present study is to provide a summary of the findings from research that has been carried out to elucidate the mechanisms and demonstrate the efficacy and safety of the clinical application of VNS, as well as to identify research gaps in the field, in order to offer references for subsequent further research and application.

Association of current Schistosoma mansoni, Schistosoma japonicum, and Schistosoma mekongi infection status and intensity with periportal fibrosis: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

Background: Periportal fibrosis is a severe morbidity caused by both current and past exposure to intestinal schistosomes. We aimed to assess the association between current infection status and intensity of Schistosoma mansoni, Schistosoma japonicum, or Schistosoma mekongi with periportal fibrosis.

Methods: In this systematic review and meta-analysis, we searched the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, Embase, Global Health, Global Index Medicus, and MEDLINE from database inception to June 18, 2024.
