Real-world study of efficacy, risk management and reasons for discontinuation of natalizumab for treatment of multiple sclerosis in Russia.

Background: NTZ is approved in Russia for the treatment of highly active relapsing remitting multiple sclerosis and is reimbursed via federal budget program. However, no data about NTZ treatment in Russia and the effect of federal reimbursement have been performed so far.

Objective: To characterize the population of patients receiving natalizumab and assess the efficacy and risk-management plan (RMP) implementation of NTZ therapy in routine clinical practice in Russia.

Reversible photocontrol of peptide helix content: adjusting thermal stability of the cis state.

Cross-linking reagents based on an azobenzene core can be used to reversibly photoregulate secondary structure when introduced as intramolecular bridges in peptides and proteins. Photoisomerization of the azobenzene core in the trans to cis direction is triggered by photon absorption but isomerization from cis to trans occurs thermally as well as photochemically. The rate of the thermal process effectively determines the half-life of the cis form as well as the extent to which the trans form can be recovered.

The paper provides data on health status of children and adult population, and medico-demographic situation in the country. An account is also given of organizational and financial issues of medical care in foreign countries. The issues related to the organization of medical care, management of public health financing of the branch under new conditions are dealt with.
