Objective: Carotid endarterectomy (CEA) is effective for the prevention of stroke, yet can be associated with a postoperative cognitive dysfunction (POCD) that may be affected by the type of anesthesia. The aim of the study was to compare the effects of total intravenous anesthesia (TIVA) with propofol to volatile induction and maintenance of anesthesia (VIMA) with sevoflurane on cerebral tissue oxygen saturation (SctO) and POCD.
Design: Single-center, pilot randomized prospective study.

Problem of maxillofacial traumatism in juvenile age group has not only medical but also social aspect. The social aspect of the problem is in traumatism steady growth in this most vulnerable in the social attitude population group that lead not only to considerable disability but to significant society expenditures on patients rehabilitation. Medical aspect of the problem is in the special character of young organism biological reaction upon trauma that should be taken into consideration when organizing medical care to the victims.

The paper shows the experience gained in the use of the new Russian antituberculous drug fenazid in patients with different forms of active pulmonary tuberculosis and with neuro- and angiotoxic reactions to isoniazid. The study group comprised 25 patients aged 23 to 70 years who received fenazid as tablets in a daily dose of 0.5 g for 2 months at the first stage of the basic course of chemotherapy.
