Article Synopsis
  • The study focuses on creating new fluorosulfate derivatives of 1,4-naphthoquinone through the SuFEx reaction and evaluates their anticancer effects on various cancer cell lines, showing they are more cytotoxic than Cisplatin.
  • The electronic structures of these compounds were analyzed using Density Functional Theory (DFT) to understand their cytotoxic properties.
  • A method using an impregnated graphite electrode (IMGE) was developed for detecting these compounds, and their electrochemical behavior was examined using cyclic voltammetry.

We report a novel impedimetric sensor based on a graphite electrode impregnated with polyethylene and paraffin under vacuum (IGE) modified with electrochemically deposited gold and a self-assembled monolayer of N-acetyl-L-cysteine (NAC/Au/IGE) for selective and sensitive determination of extracellular hydroxyl radicals (OH) generated by living cells. The application of a sulphur-containing molecule oxidized by OH predicts the high selectivity of the sensor, and the utilization of the non-faradaic impedance spectroscopy for recording an analytical response makes it possible to achieve superior sensitivity with a detection limit of 0.01 nM and a linear dynamic range of 0.

A voltammetric determination of carbofuran (CBF) was developed using a novel type of carbon-containing electrode (CCE) modified with carbon ink (CI) and a chromatographic sorbent (CS) based of chromaton (Ch), polyethylene glycol and nickel acetylacetonate with grafted layers of nickel (NiCS, stands for Ni modified CS) further denoted as CI/NiCS/CCE. The surface morphology of this modified electrode was investigated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). CBF which is not electrochemically oxidizable was first hydrolyzed in alkaline medium to give anodically active phenolic analogue CBFP.

Solitons dynamics in the frame of the extended nonlinear Schrödinger equation taking into account space stimulated Raman scattering (SSRS), synchronic spatial variation of inhomogeneous second-order dispersion (SOD), and self-phase modulation (SPM) is considered both analytically and numerically. Compensation of soliton Raman self-wave number down shift by synchronically increasing SOD and SPM is shown. Analytical soliton solution as a result of the equilibrium of SSRS and increasing both SOD and SPM is found.

Comparison of myxosporidian species compositions in different flatfish species fro Peter the Great Bay showed that the flatfishes should be divided into three ecological groups--deep water (scaly-eyed plaice Acanthopsetta nadeshnyi, Korean flounder Glyptocephalus stelleri, flatheaded flounder Hippoglossoides dubius, and pinewood flounder Cleisthenes herzensteini), relatively coastal (yellow-finned sole Limanda aspera and brown sole Pseudopleuronectes herzensteini), and coastal (Japanese flounder Pseudopleuronectes yokohamae, long-snouted flounder Limanda punctatissimus, starry flounder Platichthys stellatus, and white-bellied flounder Lepidopsetta mochigarei). This division coincides in general with the previously proposed ecological classification based on the characteristics of bathymetric distribution and preference to water layers during summer period in the fishes.
