Objectives: The cranial base plays a significant role in facial growth, and closer analyses of the morphological relationship between these two regions are needed to understand the morphogenesis of the face. Here, we aimed to study morphological integration between the sella turcica (ST) and facial bones during the fetal period using geometric morphometrics.

Materials And Methods: Magnetic resonance images of 47 human fetuses in the Kyoto Collection, with crown-rump lengths of 29.

Article Synopsis
  • - A new prognostic model was developed to predict cancer-specific survival (CSS) for patients with de novo metastatic hormone-sensitive prostate cancer (mHSPC) using data from 1,092 Japanese patients treated between 2014 and 2020.
  • - Key factors for predicting CSS included disease severity, liver metastasis, certain lab results, and primary tumor characteristics, leading to significant differences in 5-year CSS rates among low-risk (86%) and high-risk (22%) groups.
  • - This model displayed high accuracy and reproducibility, and it may help tailor treatment approaches for patients with mHSPC, especially in determining the intensity of therapies needed.

Breast cancer is a major contributor to cancer-related morbidity and mortality in women, which is primarily attributed to metastases. Common metastatic sites include the lungs, liver, and bone, whereas bladder metastasis is rare. We report a case of bladder metastasis from breast cancer in a 61-year-old woman, highlighting the challenges in diagnosis and treatment.

Article Synopsis
  • Radical prostatectomy is the preferred treatment for localized prostate cancer, and preoperative cystoscopy is routinely done to assess prostate anatomy.
  • In a study of 721 patients between 2008 and 2022, bladder cancer was found incidentally in 1.1% of cases, mainly low-grade, non-invasive tumors.
  • Follow-up showed that most bladder cancers were non-invasive, with no progression of prostate cancer observed, suggesting that cystoscopy may not be necessary before surgery.

Haploidentical hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT) using glucocorticoids for acute graft-versus-host disease prophylaxis (GC-haplo) may become a curative treatment option for nonremission acute myeloid leukemia (AML). This retrospective study aimed to identify pre-HCT predictors of survival in a cohort of 97 nonremission AML treated with GC-haplo in Hyogo Medical University Hospital between 2010 and 2020. Relapse and primary induction failure included in 70 (72%) and 27 (28%) patients, respectively.
