Molecular detection of in dogs from Kerala.

India has a wide range of agro-climatic zones which is highly conducive for a diverse range of vectors and canines are continuously exposed to the risk of spectrum of tick borne protozoan diseases. The brown dog tick, is widely prevalent among dogs in Kerala and there is a high prevalence of this tick transmitted and spp. infection.

Interaction between Ataxin-2 Binding Protein 1 and Cubitus-interruptus during wing development in Drosophila.

Animal growth and development is dependent on reiterative use of key signaling pathways such as Hedgehog (Hh) pathway. It is widely believed that Cubitus-interruptus (Ci) mediates all functions of Hh pathway. Here we report that CG32062, the Drosophila homologue of Ataxin-2 Binding Protein 1 (dA2BP1), functions as a cofactor of Ci to specify intervein region between L3 and L4 veins of the adult wing.

Evaluation of doses from ionising radiation to non-human species at Trombay, Mumbai, India.

In order to meet the proposed regulatory compliances for the protection of non-human species from the ionising radiation, a comprehensive dose-evaluation process for terrestrial and aquatic biota was worked out at Trombay. During this work, dose rate (external and internal) from ionising radiation to the terrestrial plants and marine organisms (mixed varieties of fish) was evaluated by estimating the concentration of anthropogenic ((137)Cs, (90)Sr) and natural radionuclides ((238)U, (232)Th and (40)K) in environmental matrices, such as soil, vegetation, sea water and sediment. The samples were processed as per the International Atomic Energy Agency protocol for the estimation of naturally occurring and anthropogenic radionuclides.

Preparation and physicochemical and preclinical evaluations of recrystallized celecoxib.

The aim of the present study is to increase the aqueous solubility of celecoxib by recrystallization from distilled water, Tween-80, and polyethylene glycol-400. The prepared crystals were evaluated for various physicochemical evaluations, dissolution rate, and in vivo performance like analgesic activity (by writhing and hot plate method) and pharmacokinetics in mice. The practical yield of the crystals ranged between 83 and 98%, and celecoxib content was more than 99%.
