Five cases of non-neuronal granular cell tumours of the oral cavity are documented in the literature. Additionally, one case of a non-neuronal granular cell tumour with features of malignancy was described. A malignant granular cell tumour is a rare neoplasm and counterpart of a benign granular cell tumour.

However, only few studies have been done on oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) to correlate the histomorphological features with p16 and HPV DNA positivity. Oral squamous cell carcinoma has distinct etiopathogenesis, treatment and prognosis as compared to oropharyngeal carcinomas.

- Fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) revealed characteristic cells and granules, leading to a diagnosis of cutaneous mastocytoma, showing FNAC's effectiveness in diagnosing mast cell tumors without needing a tissue biopsy in some situations.
