Transgenic ever-bearing strawberry (× Duch. 'HS 138') was cultivated in a closed plant production system to produce functional proteins that can enhance human immune functions. We investigated the effects of air temperature before harvest on fruit growth and the concentration of human adiponectin (hAdi) at harvest in transgenic strawberry.

Article Synopsis
  • The study compares endovascular abdominal aortic aneurysm repair using two devices: the Zenith Spiral (ZSLE) and Zenith Flex (TFLE).
  • Results indicated that patients with the ZSLE experienced significantly fewer limb-related complications than those with the TFLE after three years (84.4% vs. 96.1% freedom from complications).
  • Additionally, ZSLE showed less change in iliac artery tortuosity compared to TFLE, suggesting it has better conformability as a stent-graft limb.

Secondary metabolites in plants play important roles in defence against biotic and abiotic stresses. Although the biosynthesis pathways of secondary metabolites have been extensively studied, the regulatory mechanism of gene expression involved in these pathways remains poorly understood. In this study, we develop a virus-induced gene silencing (VIGS) system that enables a rapid analysis of the regulatory mechanism of genes involved in the biosynthesis of isoprenoids, one of the largest groups in secondary metabolites, using hydroponically-grown Nicotiana benthamiana.
