Maurotoxin (MTX) is a 34-residue peptide from venom. It is reticulated by four disulfide bridges with a unique arrangement compared to other scorpion toxins that target potassium (K) channels. Structure-activity relationship studies have not been well performed for this toxin family.

Modulation of αv integrins by lebecetin, a viper venom-derived molecule, in experimental neuroinflammation and demyelination models.

Several neurodegenerative diseases, such as multiple sclerosis and Parkinson's disease, are linked to alterations in myelin content or structure. Transmembrane receptors such as integrins could be involved in these alterations. In the present study, we investigated the role of αv-integrins in experimental models of neuroinflammation and demyelination with the use of lebecetin (LCT), a C-lectin protein purified from Macrovipera lebetina viper venom, as an αv-integrin modulator.

Chemical characterization and pharmacological properties of polysaccharides from Allium roseum leaves: In vitro and in vivo assays.

Allium roseum is amongst the most important wild medicinal plants. It is known for its diverse biological properties, including antioxidant, antibacterial and antidiabetic activities. In this work, the polysaccharides (PARLs) were ultrasonically extracted from Allium roesum leaves then purified and analyzed by several techniques.
