Time-varying analyses of survival and outcomes in patients with HeartMate 3 left ventricular assist devices.

Aims: As patients experience longer survival on HeartMate 3 left ventricular assist devices, there is a need to characterize long-term risks of adverse outcomes more precisely. This study characterized temporal variations in risks of mortality and adverse outcomes in patients with a HeartMate 3.

Methods And Results: From October 2015 to January 2023, 431 HeartMate 3 devices were implanted at Cleveland Clinic.

Echocardiographic Changes Following Surgical Myectomy in Severely Symptomatic Obstructive Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy: Insights From the SPIRIT-HCM Study.

Background: In obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, myectomy improves symptoms, quality of life, and left ventricular (LV) outflow tract gradients. We prospectively evaluated the temporal changes in various echo parameters after myectomy.

Methods And Results: In 173 adults with obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (53±10 years, 63% men) who underwent myectomy between March 2017 and June 2020, clinical and blinded echo assessment (before and at 12±6 months follow-up) was performed prospectively (SPIRIT-HCM [Quality of Life and Functional Capacity Following Septal Myectomy in Obstructive Patients With Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy]).

Temporary microaxial transvalvular left ventricular assist device for post-myocardial infarction ventricular septal rupture: Bridging a paradigm shift.

Objective: To characterize the clinical courses and outcomes of patients presenting with post-myocardial infarction (MI) ventricular septal rupture (VSR) receiving temporary microaxial transvalvular left ventricular assist device (tVAD) support.

Methods: Between December 2019 and July 2023, 10 consecutive patients presented with a post-MI VSR. All 10 patients received a tVAD.
