Catalytic cycling of human mitochondrial Lon protease.

The mitochondrial Lon protease (LonP1) regulates mitochondrial health by removing redundant proteins from the mitochondrial matrix. We determined LonP1 in eight nucleotide-dependent conformational states by cryoelectron microscopy (cryo-EM). The flexible assembly of N-terminal domains had 3-fold symmetry, and its orientation depended on the conformational state.

Ewing Sarcoma of the Ethmoid Sinus in an Adult.

Extraskeletal Ewing sarcoma (EES) is a relatively rare primary tumor of the soft tissues predominantly affecting men in the second and third decades of life. They are a less common form of the cancerous growth known as an Ewing sarcoma, which occurs in bones or soft tissue such as cartilage. Head and neck ESS can require intervention including endoscopic sinus surgery, septoplasty, inferior turbinectomy, and left internal nasal valve repairs with septal cartilage This is a case report on an unusual presentation of ESS in the sinonasal region.

First Report of Phytophthora ramorum on Ornamental Plants in France.

In April 2002, Phytophthora ramorum was associated with twig blight and brown spots on Rhododendron spp. leaves from a nursery in France. The isolate was identified by its morphological characters on V8 agar: slow growth, deciduous and semipapillate sporangia, and abundant production of large chlamydospores (3).
