A thermoplastic chip for 2D and 3D correlative assays combining screening and high-resolution imaging of immune cell responses.

We present an easy-to-use, disposable, thermoplastic microwell chip designed to support screening and high-resolution imaging of single-cell behavior in two- and three-dimensional (2D and 3D) cell cultures. We show that the chip has excellent optical properties and provide simple protocols for efficient long-term cell culture of suspension and adherent cells, the latter grown either as monolayers or as hundreds of single, uniformly sized spheroids. We then demonstrate the applicability of the system for single-cell analysis by correlating the dynamic cytotoxic response of single immune cells grown under different metabolic conditions to their intracellular cytolytic load at the end of the assay.

Social and knowledge diversity in forest education: Vital for the world's forests.

A global assessment of the status of tertiary, vocational, and technical forest education and training found deficits in inclusion of knowledge and student diversity. Coverage of forest services and cultural and social issues was characterized as weak in the curricula of many programs. The inclusion of traditional and Indigenous knowledge was frequently poor or absent.

Zero-covid advocacy during the COVID-19 pandemic: a case study of views on Twitter/X.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, many advocacy groups and individuals criticized governments on social media for doing either too much or too little to mitigate the pandemic. In this article, we review advocacy for COVID-19 elimination or "zero-covid" on the social media platform X (Twitter). We present a thematic analysis of tweets by 20 influential co-signatories of the World Health Network letter on ten themes, covering six topics of science and mitigation (zero-covid, epidemiological data on variants, long-term post-acute sequelae (Long COVID), vaccines, schools and children, views on monkeypox/Mpox) and four advocacy methods (personal advice and promoting remedies, use of anecdotes, criticism of other scientists, and of authorities).

Role of patient characteristics in adherence to first-line treatment guidelines in breast, lung and prostate cancer: insights from the Nordic healthcare system.

Objectives: This study investigates the influence of socioeconomic status, health literacy, and numeracy on treatment decisions and the occurrence of adverse events in patients with breast, lung, and prostate cancer within a Nordic healthcare setting.

γδ T cells play a pivotal role in protection against various types of infections and tumours, from early childhood on and throughout life. They consist of several subsets characterised by adaptive and innate-like functions, with Vγ9Vδ2 being the largest subset in human peripheral blood. Although these cells show signs of cytotoxicity, their modus operandi remains poorly understood.
