Introduction: Rising healthcare costs and reduced Medicaid reimbursements pose lasting challenges for trauma centers. Various studies have highlighted the adverse effect of these cost-related circumstances on trauma center survival and the need for local hospitals to transfer patients to tertiary and quaternary care centers. Our study seeks to assess the relationship between patient transfer status to a higher-level health center and its association with mortality.

Objective: Cervical cytology specimens diagnosed with ASC-H consist of squamous cells with equivocal cytology for high-grade dysplastic lesions. We reviewed our cases of ASC-H with reflex HPV testing to evaluate this patient population.

In recent years, the use of fine-needle aspiration (FNA) in the diagnosis of breast lesions has declined in many institutions. We sought to evaluate the role of FNA for breast lesions and the annual rate of the procedure at our institution over a 4(1/2) year period (May 2002-October 2006). A total of 831 FNAs were performed, with 258 (31%) having histologic follow-up.

Objective: To perform a retrospective study evaluating the triple test for inadequate fine needle aspiration (FNA) biopsies of palpable breast lesions with a two-year clinical follow-up.

Study Design: All aspirates were reviewed and assessed for cellular adequacy in a one-year period. Specimen adequacy was based on the most stringent criteria, the presence of six or more epithelial cell clusters composed of at least six cells each.
