Background: FOLFIRI (5-FU + leucovorin + irinotecan) plus ramucirumab is one of the standards in second-line metastatic colorectal cancer (CRC) patients progressing after treatment with oxaliplatin/fluoropyrimidine with bevacizumab, but there is no evidence on its efficacy without prior bevacizumab. Moreover, VEGF-D has not been confirmed as a predictive biomarker for ramucirumab's efficacy, either.

Methods: The RAINCLOUD study was a multicenter, single-arm, phase II trial conducted in Japan.

Article Synopsis
  • A study explored salvage chemotherapy using capecitabine plus oxaliplatin (XELOX) for gastric cancer patients who couldn't tolerate or were resistant to cisplatin, but it was halted due to low patient enrollment.
  • 12 patients participated, revealing a disease control rate of 90% and a response rate of 30%, with median progression-free survival of 4.2 months and overall survival of 7.1 months.
  • Common severe side effects included fatigue and low potassium levels, but there were no treatment-related deaths, suggesting XELOX might be beneficial for these patients.

We assessed the applicability of high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) to the official testing method for the migration of caprolactam (CPL) from food utensils, containers, and packaging made from polyamide (PA). Hydrophilic interaction chromatography (HILIC) columns coated with unmodified silica, carbamoyl, and aminopropyl were used. Water and acetonitrile (ACN) were used as the mobile phase, and the analytical conditions were optimized.
