Background: It is not uncommon that atrial fibrillation (AF) coexists with left bundle branch block (LBBB). Whether LBBB is an independent predictor of poor prognosis in AF patients remains undetermined. This study aims to investigate the impact of LBBB on the AF-related outcomes in non-valvular AF patients.

In vivo imaging of glycogen in human muscle.

Probing regional glycogen metabolism in humans non-invasively has been challenging due to a lack of sensitive approaches. Here we studied human muscle glycogen dynamics post-exercise with a spatial resolution of millimeters and temporal resolution of minutes, using relayed nuclear Overhauser effect (glycoNOE) MRI. Data at 5T showed a homogeneous distribution of glycogen in resting muscle, with an average concentration of 99 ± 13 mM.

Disseminated talaromycosis: Truly uncommon or uncommonly recognized?

34 years old male from north-east India, a known case of retroviral disease, presented with shortness of breath and significant weight loss and was found to have pancytopenia, skin lesions, organomegaly, generalized lymphadenopathy, cavitary lung disease with very low CD4 counts. He failed to improve on empirical antitubercular therapy and further evaluation revealed features of disseminated talaromycosis on bone marrow studies. We hereby present an interesting case of a systemic fungal disease in the setting of advanced HIV infection.
