Introduction: Smoking and alcohol consumption remain widespread throughout the world, including Russia. Recently, due to the increase in male infertility and subfertility, special attention has been paid to the effects of smoking and alcohol on the reproductive health of young men. The aim of this study was to assess the effects of smoking and moderate alcohol consumption on spermatogenesis, reproductive hormone levels and metabolic status in young men living in Western Siberia (Novosibirsk).

Aim: Evaluate antibacterial activity of an experimental mixture of phages, belonging to several well-studied species.
Materials And Methods: The study was carried out using a group of 55 clinical Pseudomonas aeruginosa strains of various origins,- 4 mono-species mixtures of 32 virulent bacteriophages (species phiKZ-, phiKMV-, phiPBl-, PaP3-like phages) and 2 novel phages, phiMK (species PaK-P2) and phiPerm5. Activity of preparations from mono-species mixtures of bacteriophages ofvarious species were compared with activity of 3 commercial mixtures.
Ultrasound and optical coherent biometries were used to study the influence of the biometric parameters of the anterior segment of the eyeball on the precision of calculation of the focal power of an intraocular lens (IOL). A clinical study has demonstrated that among the biometric parameters of the anterior segment of the eyeball, there is a close correlation of miscalculation of IOL focal power with the diameter of the cornea "from white to white" and accordingly with the diameter of the floor of the corneal segment. Based on the findings, the authors have developed a procedure for calculating the focal power of an IOL for cases of the disproportion of the corneal segment to the IOL length of the eyeball.

The most accurate and comparable formulas SRK II and SRK/T at the mean ocular APA values have significant errors at an APA of less than 21 mm. The new empirical formula allows the accuracy of calculation of the focal power of IOL to be increased in the short ocular APA as compared with other currently used formulas.
